I agree. But I also think some people enjoy the train wreck (watching it and even participating in it). I don't find much value in it myself, it's the same reason why I don't listen to callers on Overtime with Steinberg/960.

Glad to see the Flames turn it around and break Otter. Looks like those low five-hole shots might be the ticket to getting past such a big goalie like him.
1000% I think if the Flames didn't score on that 5v3 it would have really made them frustrated. I was annoyed Toffoli whiffed as I think thye needed a goal to relax.

That's pretty much what I have been yelling at my TV. Think I need to apologize to my neighbors for all the yelling and screaming.

By far is a stretch...other guy having more work is the only real difference.

Some of you are upset about being called out on your posts on a forum where you don't even log in with your real name.

Someone already mentioned it, but I think the solution is just to leave the names out of it like the ATL.

I'm not so sure about "of course not". I mean, if someone is pointing at me, saying "Haha... you thought they'd come back in the third." I wouldn't take it personally.

I'll do the next one with them, see how it goes, then if there's a huge kerfuffle about screen name aliases somehow not being anonymous enough then I'll try it without screen names.

I tend not to post in the game threads because I know my emotions are like a rickety wooden rollercoaster on steroids with 6 bolts missing. My internal dialogue last night was pretty positive in the offensive zone (except when Tyler Folli shot it directly into the glove) however in the D zone is was a relatively steady stream of "stop giving the puck away" - "stop overskating the puck" - "make sure, you are 2 inches from the blue line, win that battle".

Still some work to do to clean up some of that, but overall that was the most complete game of the series for the Flames and the score flatters the Stars. Flames need to continue that cycle game in the Dallas zone because it definitely shows that the Stars can't hang with the Flames. Need to simplify things in the D zone sometimes to ensure they get the puck out and force Dallas to regroup.

I'm much more hopeful today than I was Sunday. If the Flames play the Flames game, they should win 2 out of 3. While Dallas has had some good play, and their goalie has been very good, he's also been exceedingly lucky. There have been multiple posts, several saves with the shaft of his stick, rebounds that have bounced over sticks or deflections that have gone inches wide. Hopefully that averages out over the next couple games and the Flames win two more in convincing fashion and build some confidence.

Funny how outsiders are calling this series boring.

Five on five ...

Flames have 44 high danger chances in the series, that's third in the playoffs through 4 games. Dallas no slouch either with 31 which is 12th. Together they are 75.

The Bruins/Canes series 22 each for 44, Toronto has only 23, St. Louis 24.

Flames with 44 high danger chances have only scored 1 HD goal.

This dam was going to break, hope it keeps breaking.

Goalies being walls but that second game was a slog of a game. Wasn't exciting to watch

The first two games were boring especially game 2. The two games in Dallas were pretty entertaining IMO.

Adding to this ... when you look at the regular season this is what the Flames are. High volume in shot attempts, shots, and high danger chances ... terrible conversion rates.

Ranked 28th in the regular season for HD shooting percentage 5 on 5. On the powerplay they were better at 7th.

Through this series the Flames have gotten back to the high volume game and had some game four success. Look at their 5 on 5 high danger generation / 60 five on five minutes through the series ...

Out right HD chances in brackets

Game 1 - 4.36 (3)
Game 2 - 4.38 (5)
Game 3 - 24.67 (16)
Game 4 - 29.02 (20)

In the regular season they averaged 11.84/60

Way more chances, and way less five on five time with all the penalties and four on fours

Well that's the thing. You show facts. You ignore what they feel. Your facts don't help what they feel. If anything your approach escalates the situation. Certainly I don't see people backing off on their concerns because of what you reply with.

Do you feel you change their mind? Why do you take this approach?

Hockey is extremely stochastic. The most of all the sports. Hockey has a lot of negative nellies because the randomness allows that. You can build a great team and lose a series because of something totally out of their control.

Not sure if you've read The Success Equation. It's a recent book on luck vs skill.

I attribute any of my success to mostly dumb luck and a smattering of skill.

Do I have to acknowledge feelings for an extra over reaction chicken little type?

Or just point out they're wrong ...

"Zadorov isn't the worst defenseman in the league"
"the Flames haven't drafted the worst of any team in hockey history"
"the Flames playoff record isn't the worst all time?"

And agree on randomness by the way.

I dont think there was a huge majority of people being down on the Flames after 3 games. But there was certainly a VERY vocal minority.

Easy money, ended up putting $100 on them for my first ever sports bet...

https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpo...7&postcount=45

Now I've gone and put that same $100 on them tomorrow. I like that there were several posters who called for a big win, big kudos to all of you! Previous years playoff performances mean jack #### given all the additions to the roster, not to mention Sutter.

Go Flames Go!!
