This is exactly why you have a guy like Lucic and exactly why Sutter had him out for the first shift.

Absolute beauty!
Benn’s a smart kid.

Faceoffs can been really important over the course of a series. The opening faceoff of game 4 might have been the most important one. Period.

Does anybody have a clip of Benn sticking Mangiapaine in the face? I saw it last night and it was one of the dirtiest things I have seen in hockey for a long time.

How that wasnt a multiple game suspension is beyond me.

What a complete POS.

I can't understand myself why he didn't get at least a single game suspension as it's clear what his intentions were and he's extremely lucky that he didn't poke Mangiapane in the eye. It's about as dirty a play as you can do with a stick poking it in the face of a defenseless player. If he did that to McDavid this would have gone viral with Friedman and the Edmonton media crying bloody murder but since it happened to a lesser player (in the eyes of the league) they took the opportunity to sweep it under the rug.

Weird, I thought we'd have a 48 hour media cycle about whether Benn would answer the bell... /s

I expect/hope Lucic rings the bell again in a reg. season game next year.

I hadn’t seen this clip before last night’s game and was very surprised that it didn’t generate more discussion. It’s plays like this that make me feel like I’m taking crazy pills listening to other fanbases talk about Tkachuk. Sure, he’s a pest and an agitator, but I’ve never seen him make such a reckless “play” on a defenceless player.

And then we have the panel in game 3 talking about the slewfoot, and despite that, Benn “plays the game the right way” generally. What a laugh.

This is absolutely shocking to me. They had the footage on the game last night and I wish I recorded it. The league must be controlling that footage, there is no other answer as to why such a dirty play isn't seeing the light of day.

AC we need you.

I don't have a lot of faith in the league when it comes to these things. It seems like they sometimes don't punish acts unless someone complains.

I recall the time that Matthew Lombardi was injured by Hatcher and the punishment didn't come down right away until someone made a fuss about it. From what I recall, it wasn't even the Flames that made brought it to the league, but some third party.

Is the maximum allowable even a punishment for some of these players?

I thought the one Lewis was far worse. Don't agree it's a make-up fine.

Jamie Benn makes an annual average of $9.5 million over the course of his contract. A $5,000 fine would be the same ratio to somebody who makes $100k/annually receiving a fine of $52.
