Yup I’m losing sleep too and this is affecting my well being. Covid and Putin have wrecked the world.
And I’m tired of the arena debate and how many tens millions “we” have to pay two guys I’ve never met personally.
I’m too old to let things like this get to me yet I can’t find the strength. So unfortunately I think I’m done with the NHL at the end of this round.

I trust Sutter and have to believe he knows what he is doing motivation wise. It was just surprising to me that he chose to call Johnny out. All I’m saying. He’s not the issue here.

I think he called out Johnny to motivate those around him.

Agree that Sutter was just stating a fact, not trying to throw the player under the bus.
I didn’t have a problem with Johnny’s play tonight, or Lindholm for that matter. It’s disappointing that our powerplay has gone like 0-10 since the early Game 1 goal, but even then it’s not like Johnny takes all the blame. Tkachuk has been the most disappointing for me, but there are plenty of others who need to step it up.

Yes, the last week was a nail in the coffin, even if they win the series. You have a strong point there.

What part of that isn’t true? It’s not overly harsh, it’s just reality.

Breakaways only succeed about 1/3 of the time. It’s not an automatic goal.

Yes he is, 110%. Sutter nailed it by calling him out.
Aside from not scoring though, gotta elevate play on playoffs and get intense. Gotta start playing hard.
I think we already know what Gaudreau is, we have seen him do this for years. Shrinks, afraid and can’t play intense in playoffs. The thought of him going to dirty areas or blocking a shot is laughable. Gaudreau can’t or won’t do it, like Monahan.
Gaudreau should absolutely be called out, and we needed him to score there not wilt away and be meek. He scored a billion points in the playoffs and had a breakaway against a rookie, he should be more
Confident and put that in the ####in net. Ffs, you’re Johnny Gaudreau. Stop being so scared, it’s pathetic.
It is also not a size thing, as Mangiapane did it tonight more or less. Johnny can’t or won’t though. It’s button hooks and perimeter play and self doubt. That’s what Johnny is in the playoffs and why it’s so damn ridiculous when he gets 115 pts in the season. Where does his confidence go?

I would put it at a 30 percent chance he makes less than 9. And a 20 percent chance he makes more than 10.

Wut? It’s the playoffs. They are one goal games in this series. What are your thoughts on the two time defending champ bolts? Blown out in two games.
Flames win Monday and have home ice. Winning is hard in the playoffs.

That’s a weird take considering owners want playoff success because that means extra home dates. The “big money” as you put it would be in the playoffs where you can get upwards of 16 extra sold out home games at premium pricing. That’s what the owners want.

Johnny and the top line could legitimately come out in game 4 and put up 4 goals if they can figure it out. What's the point of discussing this until the series is over...
I think it starts with that line not being down Tkachuck for 5 minutes to start every game and just worry about playing their style of hockey

Yeah, Johnny, Markstrom, Lucic, and Lewis were the standouts for the Flames in this game.

If the flames lose this series he should be gone anyway. This is what we looks like every year with him making 6-something, does anyone think it will be better with him making 11?
I really don’t know how much more of playoff gaudreau anyone needs to see.

I think people are reading too deep into that Sutter comment. Remember when Darryl said he hopes Johnny plays better in game 501 than he did in 500? People freaked out about how Johnny would respond to coaching like that. Johnny’s himself and his dad said he plays better when coaches don’t sugarcoat stuff and hold him accountable

Agreed. Playoffs are where the money is at. Flames missed the boat by jacking up prices 10% and placing the renewal date on May 16. Gives us enough time to not renew if they flame out in the 1st round. Frankly for me this team doesn’t get another cent of mine until they play in the second round. Could be another 10 years based on the pace they have been running the last 32.
