Lol.
Which obviously means he has played more hockey than Smith in his career, so even though he is age-wise younger, hockey-wise he is ancient compared to Smith.

LOL

Also, apparently Smith "has been great in the playoffs." It is amazing how selectively people remember.

Well it’s playoff time boys. I think preseason I picked my oil to be a top 8 team, pretty sure I had the flames in the bottom half somewhere, so I’ll be reserved in my hopes after this series. I do think they will beat the Kings somewhat handily though. Of course if Smith gets riled it could be a long series that goes either way. All the comments saying Smith wasn’t good in playoffs past, either didn’t watch, or don’t remember those games vs the Jets. He wasn’t the reason the oilers got swept.

Smith "great in playoffs" = being the second best goalie on the ice to Hellebuyck four times in a row and four times preceding that to Grubauer.

I mean if your bar is moral victories in hard fought losses then sure.. he's grand, but ultimately he's proven many times that he can't outwork an established #1 goalie over the course of a series.

Keep manufacturing these fairytales though Edmonton, they're amusing.

A friend said to me "We should get together to watch some of the games in round 2 when we meet". I said "I know I don't want the company of any Oiler fans during any game when the Flames and Oilers play, and I'm pretty sure you won't want to be around me either".

And how long is Nurse out?

Is Kulak on the top pairing yet?

How that blue line is even NHL competent is beyond me.

Their D isn’t as bad as you make it. Statistically they’re middle of the pack in GAA. Ceci has been solid, Keith brings experience, Bouchard is good with the puck but he makes some blunders defensively, and ya Kulak has been a good addition. Nurse will be ready tonight from what I hear. I don’t know if they are able to make a run but I do think they get by the kings.

I think that Smith will probably be good. But under the LA heavy forecheck and physical systems based play that he will see a ton of this guy scored moments and will suffer because of that losing his composure and yelling at his team mates a lot.

I expect that as much as Kopitar and Daneault are key X factors. Brown who is going to retire will want to make this series memorable as he runs Draisaitl and McDavid through the boards and onto their next NHL teams.

Well, he sure as hell didn't help them, either. Smith played only one of four games in which he registered a + 0.900 SP in that series last year. He was not very good.

Shout out to DJS, FlamesAddiction, and Coach for keeping things in perspective. I'm going to head to the Pisser Arena and have some beers with my Pops and enjoy some buffet selections early so we can dish out some good ol' fashion heckling to arriving fans...Coiler team reps have requested everyone wear orange - NOT Gonna Happen. We can do what we like and be the loudest Kings fans in our box haha! Here's to watching Smith flop around like a beached whale as his D swarm to one corner, leaving 3 open Kings in the slot and 3 Coiler forwards watching it unfold from centre ice over and over and over again!

Nothing wrong with that! I’ll be at the game tomorrow and likely Thursday and I certainly won’t be wearing red.

Yeah, I'll go with the take of someone that isn't a teet suckling oiler fan. No offense bud, but you guys have a tough time analyzing your own group objectively.

I'll give you that they've managed to play over their heads, which for that group is middle of the pack.

Ceci, Kulak and Keith are all outcasts of their former teams, and for a reason.

And they haven't really been playoff-level tested at all this month from what I've seen.

It took a month of lights-out goaltending with an obviously unsustainable save percentage to lift them up as high as middle of the pack. Good teams don't need a goalie to put up .951 to keep them afloat.

How sad is it that an Oilers fan feels the need to wear green at a playoff game, and cheer for the Dallas Stars? Doug Weight and Ryan Smyth are rolling over in their graves.

You're kind of a dick for wasting a seat that could go instead go to a real fan (including a Dallas one).

In fairness, I’ll be laughing along with Tampa fans as the Leafs once again choke.
