I can't connect to a router set up at my buddies house. The wireless signal is recognized, but when I enter the password to connect, I get the following error message:




I imagine it's some kind of setting that I have to change, but I can't figure it out. The password is "GreenBoxter1" and that's exactly how I write it in everytime.

help!

you have to have that password in hexadecimal.

see if you can switch the properties of that key to WPA-PSK using TKIP

I've got a logitech wireless keyboard/mouse set-up and the keyboard keeps fading out for a few seconds at a time. It misses letters, won't backspace et cetera and then it comes back after I pick it up turn it upside down for a second and then return it to it's regular position.

I put in new batteries but it still happens. Anyone had this happen before?

I've had similar problems before where it would stop working or duplicate letters. I ended up moving the location of the receiver and my wireless router and that seemed to help.

Wireless keyboards/mice often 'sleep' after some time (30 seconds?) to save battery life. I've got a Logitech Cordless Desktop MX5000 and after it sleeps, there is a 1 second hesitation on a keystroke and it sometimes will double the keystroke up.

I've found that this problem is made much worse by using any type of Logitech software and/or drivers. Most wireless keyboards/mice should be transparent to the system; that is they will appear as regular USB devices to Windows without Logitech software or drivers. In my case the logitech software adds ridiculous little bells & whistles like showing MSN messages on the keyboard's illegible LCD screen and it causes noticable lag on the keyboard.

Uh long story short uninstall everything Logitech and if that doesn't work take it back. I've already had to return my MX5000 once.

The following are rhetorical questions that don't require answers but here goes:

Why is my printer such an awful slut prick dick ass thing? Why are all of them? How come they suck so bad? I just printed a word doc yesterday with no problems. Now I want to print the same thing and it ignores me. Nothing has changed. I haven't changed settings, changed anything, modified anything, added or subtracted hardware, software, flacidware, nothing. Nothing is different, yet today when I press print it won't print. Yesterday when I gave it the same command the page was printed before I had time to stop it from landing on the floor.

I'm trying to get a sense of how photo sizes work and how they can be printed.

Can a digital photo that's 10,000 bytes be blow up to twice the size of one that's 5,000 bytes? Can one of 200x400 pixels be blown up to twice the size of 100x200 pixels? How does pixel size relate to number of bytes? Does the amount of detail in a photo affect the number of bytes? Can I tell how large a photo can be printed by the number of bytes or pixels?

Generally, a picture's resolution is proportional to the size of print you can use, so yes a 200x400 picture could make a print double (well, technically 4x) the size of a 100x200 picture.

# of pixels (resolution) is one of many things that affect the file size (bytes). Color depth, compression level (usually "quality" or "definition" setting on your camera), color range, and more determine the actual size. Detail is a pretty vague term but in general yes, a picture with lots of contrasts and colors will result in a bigger file than a picture with the same settings of a black wall, for instance.

Not bytes at all, and not pixels by themselves. Every camera is wildly different. I went traveling with a 3 megapixel Canon that prints 20"x30" prints that look absolutely stunning. The same size print from my old 6 megapixel HP look awful. The Canon pictures' file size and resolution are considerably lower than the ones taken from the HP but the Canon pictures make much better quality large prints.

Any reasonable quality new-ish (3+ megapixel) camera should be good to at least 8x10. Higher than that, you'll have some prints made and see for yourself.

Also check digital camera forums to see what kind of experience people with your particular model have had.

Is my cd drive a dvd burner? When I go into my computer it calls the drive DVD + RW. Or does that mean it plays dvds and burns cds?

It means it records +DVD media(+R,+RW). Now all you need is DVD
recording software.Should also burn cd's.
Just out of curiosity what brand and model no. is it?

For several hours this morning all of my outgoing email messages were stalled in my outbox.

The error message I get basically said this: One of the recipients' addresses is being rejected by the server. Server response - error code , address me@something.com. Sender address rejected, domain not found. Account pop.telus.net. SMTP server: smtp.telus.net.

Why was all of my outgoing email just sitting in my outbox all morning until now? Would this be a telus problem? My assistant's email was going through without any trouble this morning and I was receiving email, just unable to send any for hours.

Don't know if I can even do this but:

I use Outlook 2007 as my email program, and on the right it has the calendar/todo list.
I use google calendars for my calendars usually, is there any way I can get the iCal stuff from google to show up in the right bar?

I've got an Outlook issue. I recently hooked up a router and now it seems as though I can't access my email through Outlook. Would someone be able to help me?

The error message says:

- Find incoming mail server (POP3): Outlook cannot connect to the incoming mail server. The problem could be the server name or port, or you server may not be supported by SSL. Verify your port and SSL settings in More Settings under the Advanced tab.

- Find outgoing mail server (SMTP): Outlook cannot connect to the outgoing mail server. The problem could be the server name or port, or you server may not be supported by SSL. Verify your port and SSL settings in More Settings under the Advanced tab.

Shaw is my ISP.

I've looked under the "advanced tab" but it is very advanced and way over my head. Would it be better just to call Shaw?

the problem is the router not outlook... When you put in shawmail as your email servers it is just an alias. You need to put in the full server name not just the alias (I had the same problem)

When I click on properties it says "HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GRA-4120B"

If this is actually a DVD burner I'll be happy and mad at the same time. Happy because I can burn DVD's, but mad because I've haven't been burning DVD's for the last three or so years I've had this computer.
