Obviously Atkins couldn’t have expected Jansen and Hernandez to go down so quickly. The timing is not good. Hopefully they both recover quickly.

It’s a tough division and they will be 4-3 after tonight.
Not time to panic yet IMO.
Short spring training and everyone working through the rust so far

Damn. Just when it got interesting. Double plays are the worst.

Nothing worse then the Ump making a bad strike call then having the batter have to swing at a bad pitch

Unfortunately that won't happen.

How about hitting Vladdy 2nd in the line up? Gives him a higher likelihood of getting another at bat in tight games in the 9th?

What a strange outing by Chapman. He didn't want to pitch at all. That was ####ing weird.

Hmm. Thought that flair would drop. But instead a double play. What a garbage game.

Bad team is bad, fundamentally bad. That ball was never a base hit.

That's just it. Once they hit their stride they'll be just fine.

That was one of the most brain dead plays I've seen by Chapman.
Cost Vladdy an at bat with the bases loaded and the game on the line.
I'm sure he'll settle in, but he has been absolutely terrible so far. Offensively, defensively and now a huge boneheaded baserunning error.

It's ok, now you get to play at home against the poverty franchise Oakland A's who sold all their stars, cause they can't afford them. I expect a 3? game sweep.

I don’t really expect much at this moment with an abbreviated spring. All I know is the team is 4-3 with essentially every player not named Springer and Vladdy hitting well below career averages. Gausman looked like an ace last night. Manoah looked sharp. Berrios looked way better. Romano, Cimber and Mayza look awesome. Lots to like.

Will say it again. Team is going nowhere with Montoyo. Expect him to be fired at the all-star break when the team is something like 40-45.

That is one hot take.
I'll take the over on 40-45. In fact, I'll take the over on 45-40. Name your terms.

I respectfully disagree.
Baseball is a marathon not a sprint. Stretches like this happen to every team, every year, multiple times a year.
The difference is everything is magnified when it’s the first week, due to that being 100% of the season.
Jays go 4-3 in a shakey 7 game stretch on August and nobody bats an eye
