Really unfortunate. We've seen Monahan play the last few years with one hip, can't imagine him with two major corrective surgeries on both.

Treliving says that Monahan keeps injuries to himself and no one forces him on to the ice.
Last couple days Monahan told them he has a problem. Doesn't know how long it has been bothering him.

I believe in the Jays.

Just brutal for Monahan. It’s got to be incredibly frustrating to be so good at your craft and then have your body give out on you.

I feel so bad for the guy. He reminds me a lot of Jonathan Cheechoo back in the day, who was an elite scorer in the league before injuries completely derailed his career. I really hope Mony can battle through this, but surgeries on both hips and lots of wrist problems are really tough to overcome. Rooting for the guy.

I mean, tough look for Mony to keep it to himself until after the deadline, but that's life I guess. Cap space would have been nice.....

It's a very interesting take by Brad. He is saying that a lot of the time Monahan leaves playing through things to himself, and doesn't inform the team about it. I wonder if the scratch made him realize he had a problem and made him vocalize it.

I find this so perplexing. He was healthy scratched recently. To who’s benefit is it to conceal an injury?

This culture of silence shouldn’t be applauded in hockey when it comes to injuries. It was clear as day to everyone, Sean wasn’t the same player.
I love it that Tre is standing up for him but I don’t like it that he’s giving Mony kudos for playing without telling anyone for months.

Bummer for Monny....and the Flames. Big hearted guy. He's played through a ton of hard stuff.

Shame for his career to be limited the way it has the last 5 years.
This year, with his close friend Johnny's future in the air and the team playing lights out, even more reason in his mind to fight through it becuase he may not get a chance at a being a part of a season like this again.
Good luck with the surgery SM.

It’s clear he has been hurt. You don’t go from being a 30 goal guy to a 7 goal guy in 500 days.
With 2 hip injuries he might be done.

Tree standing up for Monahan and calling the criticism bull#%^* was awesome. Love seeing him defend his players.

Or, now that both sides will have been addressed, these hip injuries could be behind him.

What hasn't Monahan injured? Seems like he's had problems with just about every joint.

Kind of odd Rosie hasnt been recalled...no?
Monny clearly goes to LTIR opening up both cap and roster room.

I'm just glad it's not this. ^^^
Sucks for Monny. His career might be over if he cannot recover in time to get a meaningful performance in next year. I suspect that the team keeps him on LTIR for next season unless he really looks capable, which I doubt will happen at this point.
