SJ is going nowhere fast ... he should've been the guy they moved for a windfall.

Damn, Hertl's one of my favorite players. Was hoping he'd end up outside the division in a trade or something. Good for him though, hope he got a huge payday at the Sharks expense.

Poop. He's a guy I wanted for the Flames. Curious to see how this contract plays out for comparables.

There was almost no chance to bring him here. Dude has a tight NTC.

Dudes just love settling down in Northern Cali.
Keep that country club atmosphere going.
I wonder if they would have been able to pull this off if they weren't allowed to just disappear that awful Kane contract?
I get more fed up with this league each year to be honest.

On 32 thoughts they said the Life style in San Jose is really nice and the players enjoy it.

It will be interesting. He is not a direct comparable to Gaudreau or Tkachuk, but his contract could be an indicator for sure. I think it was rumoured that he preferred to remain in San Jose, so we may have to consider a home town discount is in the deal though.

If it isn’t true, they’re still going to start at $10 mil.

If anything this is lower than expected.
But Marner, Panarin, Tavares, Barkov, Seguin, Benn, Stone, Ratanen and friends had already set that minimum. Especially Point who signed for 9.5M on a championship team, no taxes, and a warm weather place with a full NTC.
I mean Fox, despite having several RFAs remaining when he signed, will be making 9.5M. Tkachuk would easily command 10M as a UFA as a 25 year old.

SJ will be in the basement for the next 3-4 years until they rid themselves of Karlsson/Burns/Vlasic/etc., so no chance of winning anything in the near future.
