‘Fine line’ tape. It’s available in a plastic (typically blue) for doing tight curves or regular type for gentle curves. Don’t pull it too much or your line will get goofy.

That said, if you’re talking about that undercoating stuff, if the substrate is already compromised it won’t do anything to help you.

It's superficial atm thankfully, just some surface rust that scratching with a finger nail exposes clean metal. But if I let it keep going then I'll have an issue.

I would use a 3M roloc bristle wheel to clean it up, spray an epoxy primer, and then put whatever you are using as a top coat. Definitely want to get it as clean as possible to avoid future problems.

Thanks for the tips guys. All makes said it was just the battery but when we went and talked to them he's not so sure now. They tested the alternator and it's fine. Will look into the other ideas mentioned when I get it back.

Thanks everyone! We have decided to go with a full body XPEL STEALTH. With the matte paint, the risk of not being able to fix any chips/scratches was very high.

I'd have to disagree - it'll only be as popular as the Mazda 5 or old Mazda MPV (or even a Honda Element) ever was. 5 seater, limited cargo room, high price, same haptic controls everyone hates.

You'll see them around, but it'll be a niche vehicle.

Affordable Vanlife vehicle? They'll be everywhere. May as well start building campgrounds tailored to van campers and EV van campers with charging ports at all the pads.

The van life demographic is only growing and it isn't going to stop.

Price range seems to be between $65-85K. A gas Ford Transit extended wheelbase (the gold standard for vanlife) is about $55-50K MSRP right now so again - it'll be a niche product for the committed eco vanlifer. The buzz would be like 1/3 the room of a Transit.

Besides - being off-grid is a major raison d'etre for vanlifers. If you have to be chained to the grid - that'll take a away a lot from it.

Maybe in 15 years when the cost of these have come down, range is better, and infrastructure is there.

Away from the prying eyes of the SUV haters in the RGMG thread, what's everyone's thoughts on the best 7-seater SUVs?

A family member is trying to avoid vans so I'm not even going to bother with that direction, but she's looking at the 4Runner Sr5, Atlas, and whatever the KIA/Hyundai ones are.

Anyone own any of these or something similar so I can pass along the experience?

Kia Telluride all the way. I don't think any of the others even come close.

I’m not sure how much the last row can actually be used for seating, unless for kids, Most SUVs, until recently, didn’t have much of legroom in the third row (especially compared to minivans)

Sequoia is good in that department, though, probably slightly bigger than the comparables mentioned.

You can't escape the SUV haters just by coming in here. The SUV haters are right. Stop buying those things. Stop it.

The third row in the Highlander is very tight, but it's reasonably comfortable in the Telluride and Palisade.

People laugh at others who buy big trucks and never use them, but most SUV drivers deserve the same derision. They basically make the exact same arguments for buying one that they mock in truck drivers.
