You don’t fix next year’s cap at the expense of this year’s team. That wouldn’t get us help for the playoffs. He’s an off-season move.

Rush style player who would likely flourish under Sutter. Would of made for a great addition but doubt we are the team acquiring him.

Correct. I'm suggesting it happens in offseason and it's next trade deadline he can be flipped by new team. Not this trade deadline.

Something like Kapanen+Marino for Boeser could make sense. Rumors were the Canucks were interested in Marino on one of the dozen Canuck rumor threads on HF

Add to the room without breaking it. Monahan has truly accepted every role he has been put in. He may not be what he was but he's a true show of buying in.

That co tract has fairly high upside for Carolina haven’t watched him play much but he is 21 and around .5ppg. Could be a Lindholm like steal down the road

Just doing a complete gamble and committing very long term to someone who has hardly proven themselves or has yet to reach the next level.

Many of the aforementioned contracts are among the best of the past decade.
It could backfire, but the there is a chance that the contract could be a steal.

Even if Kotkaniemi doesn't progress, which is unlikely, it's not a terrible deal.

We'll see if it gets done.

Even if he doesn’t pan out, you just trade him to Edmonton for one of their mismanaged but likely to breakout players. They’ll even add picks.

That's the perfect scenario for Giroux to Colorado.

Hasn't that been the forgone conclusion to all of this anyways? Giroux has some strong ties to Colorado?

Ltir I'd good. But Landeskog at less than a 100% and maybe rusty could be a factor in round 1.

Meh. Crosby broke his wrists anyways. Go to Colorado and feel the pain of losing there also.

all the more reason why the Flames should be in on Hertl.

If you go back and look at Darryl’s teams in LA they were stacked down the middle. Kopitar-Carter-Richards-Stoll.

The Flames need another centre. Hertl is that man (unless he gets re-signed, then it becomes someone else!)
