Whether cynical or not, I wonder if he does something like this, rather than easily being seized like other assets around Europe, he has suddenly embroiled this asset in a legal distraction. This perhaps can also be converted into a form of an asset via channel of communication with other European elite whose allegiances are profit/assets vs NATO/Russia during the discussion processes for the sale. This rather than potentially completely lose it for nothing anyways. Doing thing like this also perhaps guarantees he's a lifer for that organization regardless of whether he is legally an owner of the club.
On the international front, he can (pardon the pun) sell the whole concept as a hint of disdain against Putin.
On the Russian side he can sell it to Putin as a clever Trojan horse type of communication line/espionage option.
For himself, he can consider it as an attempt to build a life line that he can attempt to use for self preservation regardless of whether the balance swings towards NATO or swings towards Russia.
Just a pure guess.

Maybe someone with more military background can clarify my thoughts if there’s obvious errors.
But just from looking online, it took the nazis 2 months to seige Kiev in WWII with 500,000 troops and where there was no disregard for any populations.
Why is it surprising that the city has not fallen after a week of fighting when Russian army has not even really done anything remotely as aggressive as the German offensive ? aka shelling/bombing the actual city etc. I read it a lot that “US expected Kiev to fall in days and is now surprised by the Ukrainian troops holding the line”.

I'm not an expert by any means, but one possibility is that when the Germans were sieging Kyiv in WW2, they were fighting the might of the Soviet Union, where as now, it is Russia against an independent Ukraine. The tale of the tape looks a bit different in that respect.

A little bit different, as a huge part of the Soviet army was fighting against the Nazis in Kiev. Currently, it's just the Ukrainians resisting against the much larger Russian force.

I read somewhere that Ukrainians blew up a bridge that leads back to Russia, trapping that 40mile long column on their side. Any truth to this?

The offer was for the first officer to arrest Putin for war crimes he's committed under Russian and international law, not assassination.

Lol! I'm imagining water displacement and the damage that thing would cause to lakeside property.
"Sliver parked this behemoth bastard in the lake and now my home is underwater! I'm not talking about property value either, I mean literally under water!"
And I dont think most insurance policies cover that.
However, it isnt without precedent. I think Caligula did that on Lake Nemi one time...

Hell no! That would be such a waste!
Sail it around the Seven Seas as the World's Largest Floating LGBT Cruise!
And then get someone to make one of those ladies that they used to put on the front of ships and put Putin's face on her! Oh that would be brilliant!

Totally off topic, but this reminds me of being in Seattle when the Fleet was in.
My wife and I were having drinks on the water. There were a number of Navy vessels and driving around the harbour was a boat of dudes in budgy smugglers singing and dancing to in the Navy.
It was phenomenal.
I support your idea.
