Haha, yeah. Probably until Lehner's shoulder gets better, then he'll have to take another break because there will be a flare up at that point.

The Sabres put a good effort against the Blues and it was close, Blues won 5-3. Jordan Kyrou had 2g and 1a for St. Louis. Husso was in net for the Blues and made 35 saves.
Stupid Jets as they watched their 3-0 lead disappear. I was hoping the Avs would slump a bit and have the Flames get closer to 1st place in the western conf. Landeskog gets a hat trick. All of the Avs goals were even strength and were 0/4 on the PP.
The Coyotes recipe for winning games is whacked out. They were out shot again and just rely on their goalie to win. Wedgewood made 43 saves in the win. Schmaltz scored the GWG early in the 3rd period and scored the empty net goal.
Berube with another great performance in net for the BJs. They would have been badly beaten if he was average. The Hurricanes win 4-0 and take over 1st place in the eastern conf. Andersen with the 19 save SHUTOUT.
Jesper Bratt is a stud right now for the Devils, he scored twice and Hughes has another 3 point game for the second straight night. The bummer is they lost to the Bhawks. The Bhawks scored 3 PPGs in the 2nd period.
Gibson was pulled after letting in 4 goals as the Kings beat the Ducks 4-1. Gibson has only had 1 win in his past 5 games. Kempe had 3 points with assistant coach Trent Yawney in charge because Coach McLellan is out with Covid 19 protocol.

You know they can't activate a player from LTIR until he misses 10 games or 24 days, right?
But hey, I'm sure everyone in Vegas is perfectly healthy and it's all a conspiracy in which the other 31 owners agree to screw themselves for one team's benefit.

For the 1000th time they have nagging injuries....if you think the cap isn't effecting who is in or out of their lineup you are an absolute rube.
All the recovery's will line up with game one of the playoffs...if they make it.

Would be hilarious if they missed the playoffs trying to pull this off… because they will have to make moves/lose some players in the offseason.

For the 1000th time, ‘nagging injuries’ don't qualify a player for LTIR. He has to be physically unable to play for a minimum of 10 consecutive games or 24 consecutive days. The league actually does follow up on these things, contrary to your paranoid belief. Elliotte Friedman recently did a radio spot where he talked about the way the league has been policing the Habs' use of LTIR. Just because you don't see it and choose not to hear about it doesn't mean it isn't happening.

So their brilliant plan is to have a roster that would be well over the cap for the playoffs, and risk missing the playoffs altogether to do it? Sounds legit.

That's the thing... the deepest and most talented teams can still make the playoffs even if they have a key player on LTIR for most of the season. Teams with less depth/talent can't take the risk.
FTR I'm not accusing Vegas of abusing the system here necessarily, just saying the potential is there for teams to do so.

I haven't seen a team yet that was so deep and talented that it could safely keep three key players out. Vegas hasn't got the cap space to activate either Stone or Martinez (neither of whom could play now anyway, as reported), and if Lehner is out for a significant time, I think they'll be in tough to make the playoffs at all.
Next year the Knights will have to blow things up in a serious way. They are already right at the projected cap with 15 players under contract. If they've done that to themselves for the sake of a playoff run that doesn't even happen, the fallout will be glorious.

Again I'm not accusing Vegas of any deliberate wrongdoing in this case. But I just don't see them not finishing top 3 in the Pacific, even with those injuries.
If Lehner doesn't get injured, they could have hypothetically kept Stone & Martinez on IR until season's end (even if they both fully recovered before that time), cruise to a playoff spot anyway, then activate them both for game 1 of the playoffs.
That may not be the way things play out, but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been.

yeah no #### lol
You honestly think that if they didn't acquire Eichel that Stone would be taking the entire rest of the regular season off? I'm sure he would be in and out of the lineup like he had been all season. Also, Martinez has been a full participant in practice for over a month. If they had the space he would be playing, hopefully losing forces their hand to make a move.
They were pretty cocky with their roster and other teams in the division IMO
