From a world view if the world sends troops there it is world war 3.
We dont want this to get worse.
Ukraine is not a Nato member.
As for civilians doing what they are doing it is great and sad.
As for emotional stress and injuries. Professionally trained soldiers are not immune to this.
I had relatives in world war 2. They killed men women and children. All shooting at them. If you want to live you shoot back.
All of them came back home. They became super quiet people. joy of life taken out of them.
Horrors of war.

A part of us all would like to see some kind of fierce guerilla resistance, but, yes, the reality of that is horrific. Regular people dying in awful ways.
If there is prolonged resistance is that the end of Putin though. It's one thing to get embroiled in places like Chechnya, Georgia, or Afghanistan, where Russian troops are fighting less developed nations full of non-slavic people. Will Russian soldiers continue to support Putin when they are in their own backyard, with every move publicized via the internet.
I agree with you, this is all pretty easy to ponder about from a position of total safety. Who knows that the correct thing to do is.

If anything seeing civilians taking up arms is probably more distressing from the perspective of one who’s served or serving.

Better is relative. Someone who won’t risk WW3.

One thing I really worry about is if Trump gets back in again in 2024 and Putin is still in power, what kind of destruction can the two of them do on the planet over the next four years.

There's a decent chance imo that if Trump is elected that it will be the last US presidential election. I wish that was actually as crazy as it sounds.

Lukashenko is an old school dictator. He treats Belarus as his own private property and like a king, has one of his sons in line to inherit the country.

Maybe some sanctions should hit Belarus hard, until they kick Russia out?

They have both been in power at the same time and nothing happened.
I mean Ukraine was not invaded while trump was around.
Dont take this as I support Trump post. Take it as I dont support Biden.
Why do 70 year old plus people get elected as a president. My parents are in their 70's and say the same thing.
Both Biden and Trump seem like senile old men. Add Putin to that aswell.
Trump is a nutcase, and Biden wakes up in the morning and does not know where he is.
Thankfully the american military is stepping up in the Ukraine.
With arms and weapons? Behind the scenes probably.
Yet I think with american satelites and intelligence they are pointing the ukraine army and air force every step of the way.
Russia took the air war in seconds. Yet I think Ukraine sat back.
I think the US is giving them real time data to defend themselves.
No surprise attacks are going to happen.

Not sure either or both will make it until 2024.
If they're healthy and strong by then, well then #### me.. the universe is backwards and not much we can do about it.

It's not even about the Presidents 100%, it's the parties and advisors to those presidents. Like Trump knows anything.
While the Republicans were in government, Nord Stream 2 was not up and running. They had it sanctioned.
Why did Biden lift those sanctions to give that pipeline to Germany?
The Nordstrom Two Pipeline is the most influential project that the Russians have. That's totally giving them leverage. They turn energy off and on whenever they want. And so the largest economy in Europe, the Germans, should not be in a position of being able to be leveraged by the Russians and they currently are. We really had to twist their arm to get them to finally agree to cut Russia from SWIFT.

Russia invades Ukraine
Are we forgetting trump got impeached because he was holding back military aid for Ukraine because he wanted him to investigate Biden and say that Ukraine interfered in the election?

Do you think the US should determine how Germany gets it energy?
It's Germany's screw up. But I don't think the US should be telling other countries how to get energy.

It doesn't matter now anyways. Nord Stream 2's was suspended before Russia's SWIFT suspension happened. Germans were pressured by basically every other NATO country for their behaviour. Not to mention Germany screwed and put all their energy eggs into the Russia basket when they decided to get off nuclear energy.
The project was already in trouble back to November with regulators having issues with it then.
