Sanctioning 3 banks and a few oligarchs clearly was zero deterrent to Putin. I know the west has no obligation to join Ukraine in its defense, but ffs, how are no countries stepping up? I make the analogy to 1930s Poland not lightly, but it is insanely similar.

I think it's mainly because no one is sure if Putin won't start a nuclear war over it. A global nuclear war could become an extinction level event. Even if it seems unlikely that he would do that, it has to be on the back of their minds.

Wars can escalate out of control fast.
