Yeah, Forsberg would be good. Let’s do that.

Careful what you wish for. They might trade him to Vegas.

Forsberg is a drool worthy throught but no way do the flames have the ability to trade for him without depleting some of the prospects we’re going to need at ELC after extending the big contracts.
Still though…
Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Forsberg
Coleman - Monahan - Toffoli
Lucic - Ruzicka - Lewis
Dube + Valimaki + ? + ? Out going, obviously the +‘s would be significant but not too sure what they would be??
Insane top 6 though and that third line… would be a big add, much like Hertl but I just can’t see it happening.

Reading into it further with Andy Strickland I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a trade involving Tarasenko and Forsberg as the main components.

Nashville loves overpaid centers, they’d probably add to get Monahan.

Nashville shopping Forsberg is good to hear if true. Means he's likely to go UFA and he might be a good back up plan if Johnny walks.

I have a hard time trading for Forsberg knowing it is resulting in the loss of a core piece next year or pay up for a rental.
Forsberg likely wants all the money and Nashville is not looking to lose him for nothing since they are overachieving and still just a bubble team.

That would be crazy to see a trade of that magnitude between division rivals

This would be a smart way of acquiring someone like Miller. Gets them another year with a player of similar skill/production and the cost from acquiring him could be close to equivalent to the value returned from Forsberg.

The term ‘superstar’ has become sadly devalued if Filip Forsberg qualifies as one.

Totally agree but Strickland seems to report a lot on what he’s hearing around the blues. Gut feeling assumption on my part and most likely won’t happen but for some reason I wouldn’t be surprised if that went down.

Nashville has cap space. If they don't re-sign him I'm leaving town.

I have to be honest here, I never liked the Toffoli trade. If the 1st was a 2nd, then I’d be okay with it, but a 1st for Toffoli is too much. He’s an inconsistent scorer who will score in 5 straight games, then go quiet for the next 7 with maybe an assist. He’s 29, going on 30 in April, and he’s just another one of those players going on the wrong side of 30 that Treliving loves to sign and/or trade for (Brouwer, Neal, Lucic, Coleman). I have absolutely no idea why most people on here were obsessed with him and wanted to trade for him by any means necessary. I don’t care that he’s signed for another 2 years, but for that 1st round pick we should be targeting someone like Forsberg, Laine, Giroux, Hertl, Chychrun, Miller, etc. Those players are actual game changers that put us over the top, Toffoli isn’t that.
Treliving owed it to this core, with the way Johnny, Tkachuk, Lindholm, Markstrom, and our d-core are playing and with the way Sutter is coaching to go all in, and he failed as we no longer have enough cap space to target any of those players, unless if someone like Monahan or Lucic would waive to be traded but I don’t see that happening with the way we’re playing as I’m sure they’d rather stay on a playoff contending team. Trading for Toffoli isn’t going “all in”, it’s just a decent, overpriced piece but it doesn’t allow us to compete with Colorado, Vegas, etc. I feel like that package plus a little more would have been enough for Forsberg and I’d much rather have Forsberg than Toffoli with him being younger at 27 and a more prolific scorer. However, my target would have been Laine IF he was available. My god he would have made our top 6 absolutely deadly and he’d be an RFA after this season and a piece of our core going forwards. But instead, we have big bad Toffoli who definitely isn’t going to put us over the top if we end up playing a team like Colorado in the playoffs, and I wouldn’t be surprised if MacKinnon just slaps us around again like last time. I wouldn’t even be surprised if we’re out first round, because we just cant seem to get out of the first round. However, the Sutter effect is different and gives me some hope with his system, which is why I was hoping Treliving would go “all in” and not waste a 1st on an inconsistent scorer. I hope I'm wrong, but Toffoli just doesn't do it for me.
