it's not about making the room worse, it's about distractions. Our blueline has been playing really well lately and the pairings are clicking well. You bring Gio back, you've got two options: one of them has to sit undeservedly or you're asking a franchise legend to sit in the pressbox. Either way, it creates unnecessary storylines and distractions.

There were rumors around Tkachuk and friction in the room with the old guard/leadership back when the Flames and particularly Tkachuk were slumping.

Outside of a 7th dman, I just don't see the flames doing much more, given the chemistry each line/pairing has built up.

Ritchie/Richardson are your 13/14th forward. Tofolli gives them a guy who can move into a top 6 winger position.

Stone is a guy who can fill in for 3rd pair duty if one of the big guys goes down. I suspect that the additional dman will be a puck moving, offensive type, as they don't really have anyone to fill that role, should it be required.
