Goodrow only fetched a 1st because of his contract though. He had one and a half year left on his deal at 925k at the time of the trade, which made him attractive to a deep team like Tampa. It's why they ended up paying a premium for both him and Coleman.

Crouse is an RFA with arbitration rights. Nobody is paying a 1st for that.

Tampa got a 3rd back with Goodrow as well. I can’t find the full details of the trade to know exactly which 3rd but it was Goodrow to move up 50 ish spots.

Yeah part of the reason a guy like that gets traded is the team doesn't want the RFA hassle. Then again pending RFAs are kinda Treliving's thing.

Just because someone might give up a first plus for a guy like Crouse doesn't mean that is a smart trade or that the Flames should do it.

There are a ton of bonehead deals at the deadline. The Flames have made mistakes there as well. I hope they don't this year.

I see Crowse as a target if the Flames have to move one of their wingers in the summer. If the Flames went after Chychryn, Crowse would be a good piece to act as balance if the team were forced to move Tkachuk. Tkachuk for Chychryn, Crowse and a 1st (Coyotes have three this draft) would be a good deal in the event the Flames' hand is forced.

Look at what players like him bring in.

Nick Foligno brought back a 1st plus as a rental. Teams always want the combo of size and skill. Colborne had size but was soft as butter.

Cody Eakin could be a guy that makes some sense. He is one of the top faceoff guys in the league, and he can kill penalties. He competes hard.

Treliving has specifically said he doesn't like paying firsts for rentals, more than once. So I doubt he does it.

If Crouse requires a first then it's likely the Flames are out in any case, as I doubt Tre wants to move next years first after using this year's to acquire Tofolli.

Doesn't sound like the Flames will move Pelletier. Quote is from his agent.

Again, I advocate for Calle Jarnkrok.

Especially if the asking price is just a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

A right hand shot, plays all three forward positions and is a 200 foot player. That's what you want to add in order to guard against injury.

Added bonus of being a Swede and having a relative on the team.

Another reason why it wouldn’t be surprising that one of Gaudreau, Tkachuk, or Mangiapane will be moving on this offseason.

As painful as it is to think one has to think Pelletier is the plan to lessen the blow of trading Mangiapane as an RFA to allow for room to sign Gaudreau and Chucky long term.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Coleman - Backlund - Toffoli
Pelletier - Monahan - Dube
Lucic - Ruzicka - ??

I agree, he would be ideal. A good utility guy that can play up and down the line-up in pretty much any role and do well. He doesn't need top 6 ice-time to be an effective player, but he can step up and not slow down the tope lines if there was an injury and someone had to step in. I see him as a player that would fit in really well on a Sutter team for sure.

Have been sold for over a month on him, his faceoff abilities are highly intriguing and allows him to be plug and played through out the lineup if injuries occur. Get it done!!

I still wonder if Tkachuk is the one that gets traded.
I also think they will look for someone to take Monahan in the off-season.

Going to be an interesting summer.

I don’t know if it would be a great idea to let one of the most 200-foot dominant lines in recent memory not just for the flames but for the league disband. Lockup Johnny and Chuck long term and figure out the rest afterwards is what I’m hoping for!

I think they re-sign 3/4.

Odd man out likely one of Mangiapane or Tkachuk depending on the demands of each camp.

Replacing the guy that leaves will be tough.

Toffoli should help soften that blow at least a bit.

yeah same, he's the one player I'd absolutely love them to get after already adding Toffoli. Just feels like a Sutter player and would perfectly fit into this team, I think. UFA status is an obvious caveat, but who knows, he might be inclined to re-sign with all those Swedes already on the team.

I would maybe dangle the lower 2nd plus a B/C prospect if they take Ritchie and retain salary.
