Pitlick wasn't an asset

to be fair (and we can argue about the sunk acquisition cost of Pitlick) he's not an asset in that sense of the term and I'm assuming his inclusion was for our benefit not the Habs (although fair enough they can likely flip him for something marginal at the TDL)

Is it weird that with all the crap in the world going on right now this has me almost emotionally happy?

I was sure wrong about Treliving going for this guy. Wanted him for sure, great player and will fit like a glove but never thought, with 2 years more term, Treliving would do it.

That's the biggest change in Trelivings past modus operandi and the biggest surprise to me. To actually ADD 3 mill to next years cap with none of the 4 key contracts done. I swear he's waited his whole tenure as GM for the day when his team was a serious enough contender that instead of planning ahead, he could go for broke.

This team hasn't had a right hand shot this wicked since Jarome left.

Tree's taken a page from Chicago and Tampa and for the first time decided to sort out the off season after the play offs.

he'd been out of the lineup so long I'd forgotten we had him.

Default Toffoli to Flames for 2022 1st *, 2023 5th, Heineman, and Pitlick

I wonder what new CP member Kudatah thinks about this?

Pitlick was a sunk cost at this point so he's easy to move.

A 5th is pretty easily recoverable.

The 1st and Heineman are the real costs here and I'm comfortable with that from a "high value" asset perspective.

Sure they're all assets; my truck and floor mats are also assets but we both know which has value and which is thrown in.

Yeah, you almost have to spend to move Pitlick by himself for cap room. And the 5th - I haven’t kept track but Treliving can pick those up just by trading draft spots here or there.

He will be a threat on the ice no matter what. Say he slots into the 3rd line with Dube-Monahan-Toffoli.. That line can't be taken lightly. He still has the ability to put the puck in the net. I watched him a ton in the last two playoffs and he will be a threat for the Flames Group. Shows 19 and 13 that this team is for real. Good conversation builder in contract negotiations.

Has there been an official press release yet? I would love to hear the comments from the team and Toffoli.

If the first line wasn't so hot, I wouldn't have mind if Toffoli replaced Tkachuk and Tkachuk took Coleman's spot on Backlunds line. Coleman then goes to Monahan's line.

Tkachuk and Backlund have played well together in the past and it spreads out the scoring.
