Yikes is either a first timer completely out of his depth or an old/current board member just trying to give themselves a few laughs by getting under the skin of actual contributors

Well, a few laughs shared by about 15 contributors is better than nothing I guess. From what I see CP has maybe 60 "followers" that contribute in some form.

Still not a fan of rentals, but he's a decent two way C and has been a consistent 54%~ face off guy for 4 or 5 seasons now.
He's a real Sutter-type:solid two-way player with grit and size, and they say he's future captain material. He's strung together two solid offensive years. He is what Trevor Lewis was supposed to be when he was drafted.

I'm still leaning towards Tofolli depending on the ask. Everything we need in a scoring RW. We will need to jettison contracts to keep the best players together either way, so we might as well add competent scoring now.

This could be the last shot with this crew. We need to put all the chips on the table this year.

Those that are wanting defense out of him, I can understand that. But, I think with Lindholm and Backlund here Scheifele can get the bulk of the offensive zone starts and work his magic. I think he'd be a great grab if possible.
This would be huge, but I don't see WPG doing it for a pu pu platter...I could imagine them pairing Scheifele + Schmidt for a better D and lesser forward...though nobody comes to mind with a real surplus of D and cap hits to match.

If you trade for Konecny youll need a third team unless we are ready to part with some Top Picks and Prospects. 3.5 Seasons at 5.5 for a guy that can play either wing and fits a huge Org need.

My best offer would 1st, 2nd , Valimaki +

I love the player personally. His a big body in a smaller frame. Hes a finisher as well.

Barzal would be a dream but the cost would be too significant. Multiple 1sts and or a few of Coronato/Pelletier/Zary and a roster player … very steep and a mortgage of the future with Johnny and Matthew uncertainty I’m not sure it’s wise

If Barzal is actually available the price would not matter to me. Package anyone who hasn’t played an NHL game this year in pretty much whatever combination the isles like.

Lottery protect the 2023 first and try to keep Wolf out of the package but Barzal is the real deal.

I would pony up in a big way for barzal. Works if Gaudreau stays or not. True 1C that has been saddled with average guys every year. A top 6 of Gaudreau-Barzal-Tkachuk Mangiapane-Lindholm-Coleman would be probably the best in the league and would get Backlund to 3C which would leave us with the best top 3 C situation in hockey. Monahan would need to go and would make BT need to add more but I would easily offer Pelletier, Corranato, Valimaki and a 1st. Barzal in the right situation would go nuclear imo. You might even want to put barzal and gaudreau on different lines to keep the other team off balance and work those two guys to their strengths. Might not be enough puck to go around realistically. The top line is already the best anyway. Sub Barzal in for Backlund and you have two legit top lines with an elite checking line that is perfectly slotted. The powerplay would see a big uptick as well with that kind of add. Top 5 easily. PP, PK, GF, GA would all be top 5 with the top possession metrics in hockey backing it up

We’re the Calgary Flames, developing goalies is not what we do.

If Wolff got us Barzal, tell Dustin to fire up his NSX.

But why would the Islanders ever trade him?

HNIC:

Canucks have interest in Zacha who can take his arbitration award next season and walk to UFA
Other teams are also calling on Zacha

Leafs working on moving Nick Ritchie
Some traction in the last few days around the league
Toronto doesn't want to retain more than the buyout cap hit of $300k

Friedman wonders if Chiarot leaving the ice and returning during the game starts traction to move him
Teams with interert St. Louis, CAR, FLA, NYR, Calgary, LA

Calgary and LA have interest in Toffoli

Hertl contract extension in San Jose may come down to term.

What do you guys think of Dylan Strome? I think he was in a sh*tty situation in Arizona, and then showed flashes in Chicago especially in his first season scoring 51 points in 58 games. He has 13 points in his last 12 games, and just scored another goal in tonight's game. It seems as though he's been up and down their line-up the last few seasons, but when given consistent top 6 minutes, he produces well. I think he'd fit well in our top 6 and be a good #2 C behind Lindholm. He's still young at 24 and only has a $3 mill cap hit and is RFA this off season.

A deal that brings in Toffoli and Chiarot makes sense…as long as Chiarot comes in as the 7th and doesn’t displace Kylington.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Dube - Monahan - Toffoli
Lucic - Ruzicka - Lewis

Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov - Gudbranson
Chiarot - Stone
Valimaki - Mackey

…still feels like we could an additional forward though so we can put Lucic and Dube together on the 4th.

The asking price for Chiarot would be ridiculous to pay no matter what, but even more so if your plan is to make him a popcorn muncher.

Strome is not a quick player and doesn't particularly show great defensive prowess.

In all honesty I don't think Sutter would play him at all.

Great offensive IQ though.

This year Monahan has been average defensively, which is the best he's even been. Strome can't find defense in a dictionary.

Chiarot or another solid, bottom pairing D is an insurance policy we need. As of right now, if any one of our top4 defensemen went down, it wouldn't be pretty.
Our replacements are, Stone who has played a grand total of 70 games since the start of the 2018 season, Valimaki with 81 NHL games played and Mackey with 6. I wouldn't be comfortable with any of those guys stepping in for a playoff game.
