I know it's asking a lot, but if we can get him a slight bit retained it would be absolutely glorious.
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Gaudreau
Dube-Monahan-Toffoli
Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman
Lucic-Ruzicka-Lewis

Marek also suggesting Dvorak would be a good fit here. Not suggesting the Flames were looking, just his opinion. Cited Dvorak's time with Tkachuk with the London Knights

Toffoli would be a pretty perfect fit in Calgary.
A major issue with acquiring depth is that the Flames have a bunch of guys in the 30-45 points range, but need someone in the 60 point range. So the Flames have to acquire someone good to rationalize the expense. That player needs to be clearly ahead of the Flames secondary scoring pack of Monahan, Backlund, Coleman, and Lucic.

So Toffoli and Dvorak.
Sounds good to me.
Dvorak = familiarity with Chucky
Toffoli = familiarity with Monahan and Darryl

Toffoli would be an awesome fit. Same goes for Connor Brown IMO.

Dvorak would (hopefully not anyways) be playing with Tkachuk.
.....I suppose if there's enough 30-40 point guys in the bottom 9, on any given night probability rules that some will score?

but he wouldn't be playing with Tkachuk so why bother? Marek talking out of his rear

Assuming everyone is healthy, yeah, why break up that top line? Lindholm goes down however, and what do you do?

Im not sold on Dvorak at 4.5 for 4 more years. He's playing pretty poorly this season. He's always been on bad teams, so it's not a really good excuse.
Also, because of salary, Dvorak coming means Monahan is probably going. IMO let's keep Monahan and see how he does with Toffoli.

Hopefully we pull the trigger on Toffoli a bit sooner rather than later. Forces us to negotiate on some potential retention, and would allow Toffoli to fold into the team a bit more. Plus he has historically played super hot when first arriving on new squads, and we could use a nice boost to go into this next stretch.

If they acquire both I think it's a sign that they don't think one of Johnny or Tkachuk won't be coming back.

It's probably just me, but for some reason, my brain is unable to process this sentence... what are you hypothesizing here?

He spoke on Flames Talk yesterday about adding secondary scoring. Your hot takery might have a wet blanket thrown on it in about a month.

Honestly that makes sense. Sign Johnny to honestly whatever he wants, around ten million. Replace Tkachuk with Dvorak/Tofolli and get a bunch of good assets in a Tkachuk trade.

Any idea on what the cost will be? I have a feeling it might be for a 2nd, but if MTL does retain some salary obviously it will take more than that.

Nothing about trading Tkachuk for lesser pieces "makes sense" unless he doesnt want to stay. Plenty of teams make two players at 10 million work. we can too. Tkachuk and Gaudreau are worth it, losing either of them for anything less than them insisting on it is a huge loss.

So as a UFA the package that the Canucks sent to LA was Tim Schaller, a second-round pick and forward prospect Tyler Madden, plus a 4th because he re-signed with the Canucks.
So Dube, 2nd, and Peltier?
Figure it has to cost more since he has term.
