And I’ll probably continue to- it’s a failure that’s likely to result in the destruction of this core, and losing Johnny Gaudreau for nothing.
I replied to a post about us having the assets to go out and get a centre - we could end up paying the same or more for a player who isn’t as good as the one we could’ve had if we’d ponied up.
That said, this is the year to trade the 1st and go get a rental - it sure isn’t going to be next year.

I'd honestly be happy with a couple of 'buy low' candidates. Jarnkrok and Domi. Both are pending UFAs.
Imagine a bottom six of this, without touching the top six :
Domi - Monahan - Dube
Lucic - Ruzicka - Jarnkrok
Richardson, Ritchie, Lewis can fight over popcorn. That is roll-four-lines championship depth. Probably cost Florida's 2nd and a couple of middling prospects for both. Pitlick goes to make the money work.

You mean the centre who is still recovering from surgery, hasn't played this season, and whom the Flames couldn't have traded for anyway without clearing his entire $10-million cap hit, because they didn't have anybody on LTIR?
That centre?
Yeah, it must be hard comparing a real team in the real world to the pipe dream in your head.

Lol the absolutes about Johnny leaving for nothing are ridiculous. Just so it can be an I told you so moment if that ends up happening. Who cares about any of that stuff right now just enjoy the team we have! I also find it laughable that not getting a 10 million dollar player is going to hurt us from keeping Johnny when the reality is landing Eichel would have made keeping Johnny much more complicated.

The difference between them is literally not much more than a rounding error:
Vegas: .61957
Calgary: .61905

They had a good run, but they needed to go about 20-0 to be equal with everyone.

No thanks. His shot is gone and watching him tonight after every shift he was sitting on the bench sucking wind like a 40 year smoker. I think his lack of fitness has caught up with him. He is slow too, look how easy big Z caught up to him tonight on that play he broke down ice. Just no.

There is no rounding error. That’s how it works.

I don’t want to trade for Kessel either, but this narrative that he can’t stay fit isn’t fair at all. It’s nothing more than made up drama from his time in Toronto. Teammates rave about Kessel’s strength and ability in the gym. He’s slowing down because he’s approaching 35. Happens to most players. Despite that he still has 29 points in 45 games on the worst team in the league.

I agree, that would be a sneaky good deadline for the Flames. Addresses their biggest need which is getting some help on lines 2-4.

Ok, well regardless of why he has slowed down and those things are happening they are happening. Either way it's an easy pass.

It seems Kopitar and Doughty aren’t washed up yet. And given the fortunes of Montreal and LA this year, Danault is a better player than most gave him credit for.

I think he meant that both are on pace for a 102 point season. That's why a slightly better point percentage doesn't matter.
Even though Vegas is 0.1 points better in the pro rated standings, that's not possible in the end of year standings.

I cannot qoute the proposal but if Buffalo valued Krebs and Tuch highly than a quantity trade would never have beaten it. Quantity over quality pretty much always leaves the seller a loser. Obviously you can argue about the quality of prospects but we'll always overhype Flames prospects.
