They're afraid to start Binnington against us.

Good stuff.

As you mention in the rest of your post…good luck with that! This is probably the meanest Flames team that I can remember. Even their smaller guys outside of Gaudreau aren’t exactly soft. Tkachuk, Mangi, even Lindholm.

Love to see it

This will be TWICE the game. 14-2 Flames. Tkachuk with 10 assists.

I'm going to start by best guy in the 4 point game against the better opponent because IMO that's the better decision. I'm sure Darryl has his reasons and it probably has to do with giving Markstrom an extra day off before facing the Canucks.
The trend for a lot of NHL coaches right now seems to be starting your top-goalie in the most "winnable" game in a back-to-back. This has been a pretty consistent tactic for a couple seasons now.

Good test. Feels a bit like playoffs; you just manhandled this team at home and now it's right back to it but on the road.

GFG.

I have full faith that Sutter will have these boys hyped up and ready to go. I am not even worried about 3 games in 4 nights.

I actually don’t think it is.

Yesterday’s game was literally perfect, i doubt any team has ever played that comprehensively well from the top of the roster to the bottom.

Once in a lifetime and surprise, surprise, it’s passed by the media unnoticed.

That performance by any of roughly 20 other teams and it would be blowing up like a hydrogen bomb today. Edmonton or Toronto and the earth would stand still to acknowledge it.

But we play in Calgary under Sutter, so it's just another day at the office, kid.

And I am okay with that.

I've alwasy wondered, what is the reason that goalies can't play back to back games? Is it that physically demanding to play goal? It's not like you're flying around the rink like the rest of the team, you're mostly motionless, watching the game. I could understand if Markstrom faced 50, 60 some shots the evening prior like Merz did yesterday but he didn't really have to "work".

It is physically demanding - they are on the ice for 60 minutes versus 20 or whatever the skaters get. And it’s mentally draining. That said, they are capable of it, but if you aren’t starting your backup in BTB games, when are you going to use that guy at all? Vladar needs the odd start.

Yes it is. You lose 10-15 pounds in sweat from each game and it does take a lot out of you due to the equipment. Even if you are having a light game there is still a lot of movement.
