Of course this is good news - for Steinberg. Now he is just works 4-7. And with a Flames game he still only needs to be working 6 or 7 hours, unlike the old 1pm to 11pm+ shifts he was putting in.

I did not tune in at noon because I have no desire to listen to a replay from the morning. I decided to tune in at 1 despite not being a fan of Logan or Will but to then hear there is basically little to no Flames talk in the afternoon I immediately shut it off.

I listen to the FAN for Flames coverage which now seems to be mostly limited to 9-10 and 4-7 pm. For a guy who works a typical 8-5 and would listen to the FAN for the entire day they have now taken 4 hours away that I won’t bother tuning in.

How does the program director think Nault and Gordon will be able to carry 3 hours of non/limited Flames talk through the day? Frustrating to see our only live radio option go this direction.

I don't ever want to hear a Shane homes radio ad ever again so it's only podcasts for me.

I listen via podcasts (because of location) and was wondering what all the changes would be.

I only want to listen to Flames coverage -- I don't really care about NFL, college football, sports betting, NFL fantasy, etc. so I will probably unsubscribe to the Big Show and just listen to Flames Talk (not a huge fan of Matty Rose -- he was ok doing the Stamps Report).

I liked Pinder and Steinberg the best as they had good chemisty (the pessimist vs the optimist). I don't mind Nault/Gordon/Klein/etc. but they are just the "help" -- Patty and Pinder are the main talent.

too bad that Marek still takes up time. He is awful. I think I despise just about everything about him.

If stupid Francis is going to have his own dedicated show, can they not get him the magic technology to make him sound like he's not on a soup can and a string? If Rich Winters didn't have so much great info, there's no way I'd listen to that.

And ya, I lasted about 45 seconds of the Negative Nault show once he said they wouldn't be talking Flames. I was witness to the best line though in that time, "totally re-branded show...with the same name" - uhhh, what?

I didn’t have a problem with Marek until he started his new show now I see why people were making these comments when the show was announced.

That trading Tkachuk and Gaudreau commercial where he goes “Ooof let me pull the hook out of my mouth” it just annoys me more than it should.

I know I complain a lot in this thread but it is because I really want this station to be good and most of their decisions are bad ones.

I think the big show will not return next hockey season. They are banking on people listening later in podcast format and they will see quickly that no one will want to download that show and that their general ratings will tank.

I don’t know what genius came up with the idea to take 2 of their worst personalities and give them a 3 hour slot during the work day to talk sports but to avoid talking about the number 1 topic in the city that is the local hockey team.

I will say I tuned into the Flames-Talk from 4-5:30 yesterday and it was solid. Roundtable, Treliving, Mitch Love, deadline trade talk. Great stuff just wish it was starting earlier.

I think I’ve said this before but I’m more annoyed with how much of the Friedman Marek duo Rogers is putting out there. The podcast was enough. Now we have daily hits and the second intermission? The content is fine but it’s going to get stale quick.

I liked Friedman’s hits on the morning show and with Stienberg. I’m also puzzled why they wouldn’t bring in Seravelli in place of CJ on headlines panel. Or they could have had a rotating cast. Seravelli, Kypreos, hell bring back Duhatschek or some new personalities.

Who’s making these decisions? Let’s get some variety back.

So riffing on this…

What’s wrong with a rotating cast of guests who get three hours every afternoon day of the week. So Duhatschek every Thursday, someone else every Friday, etc. you would get Nhl coverage at a senior level without being limited to flames talk.

Or do what the morning show did and bring in players or stakeholders for a week. You would create real connections with listeners; I’m thinking about Brett Krahn as an example.

I really want/need 960 The Fan to be successful because I’m out of market and besides CP it is the closest thing that I can do to keep up with the Flames.

Last week Marek pulled out the “Frank Zappa once said cows don’t make ham” quite and then on the 32 Thoughts pod, he threw down “hard times make monkeys eat red peppers.”Jeezus.

The guy really just needs to settle the hell down and stop trying to be the gen X version of Ron Maclean with all the poetic blah blah blah.

I actually feel sad for you. Annoyed or disliking sure… but “despising” someone like Marek only says more about you than it does about him.

I am genuinely happy for Patty.

Now he can go cruise for babes in the daytime in his Infinity whatever-you-call-it.

I listened to Steinberg with Matt Rose yesterday and thought they were actually quite good together. This in spite of my previous impressions of Rose, who I thought was a terrible replacement for Deforest in the morning. I think if he sticks to talking sports, and stops trying to be a funny guy all the time, he's going to be a real good personality on 960. Yesterday I heard no funny business from him and found him good to listen too.

Loved his crack about people from Saskatchewan battling whatever illness with whiskey whereas in Alberta you stick to the protocol.

Being from Sask, he isn't wrong about the first part.

In training camp Pelletier wasn’t an NHL player, not even close. Per Darryl.

Also talked about the Center position. We’d like to have more production but we have the players we do so we have to get other things out of that position.

Also points to Covid still affecting these athletes.
