1 game yes. Do you seriously believe the Flames can beat Tampa after watching last night?

Canes are really good. First game in a week. Flames 3rd game in 4 nights. Biggest positive for me - they did not give up or quit. Hopefully, that leads to better things down the road.

Flames don’t have much margin for error to beat really good teams. Tonight goaltending let them down.
Where has Tkachuk’s intensity gone?

Flames had higher XGF in the Florida and Carolina games. Got totally pumped in Tampa.

Yup, but a large part of that is that the Flames have been no where near as good defensively as they were for the first 20 games.
When you give up glorious chances, your goalies' numbers are going to go down.

No, it really doesn't. It just tells Treliving that he shouldn't be happy with the roster he has and needs to look to improve it if he doesn't know that already.
Many teams going into the playoffs aren't really true Cup contenders. That doesn't mean you just pack in the season.

Holy Christ, a bit of overreaction in the thread. I’m angry at three straight losses too, but it was three of the best teams in the league. It’s shown flames need to improve and make some moves. Flames got a reality check pretty quick here- but last I checked FLA, TB and CAR aren’t in our division. Let’s worry about pacific and western teams first.

A lot of you with unrealistic expectations of this team. Flames got beat by the better teams and that is it. This team isn’t a Cup contender, but could go a couple rounds in the playoffs.

Hmm that’s interesting. So what was the big difference? Goaltending? Finishing talent? Probably a combination of both.

How many teams in the NHL don't? Maybe the only three are the three we lost to.

Flames looked gassed on their last PP opportunity.

You’re not wrong. The team defense has looked pretty pedestrian lately but the goalies are letting in some back breakers as well. It makes for a really bad combination.
They have gone from one of the stingiest defenses in the league to one of the leakiest in very short order.
Hopefully they can get the train back on the rails.

I think hypothetically if Vegas dropped out and the Flames could've dealt something like Monahan, Pelletier and Valimaki for Eichel it could've been the difference between being a tier below these clubs, and maybe having a shot in a long series against one of them.
They remain roughly an Eichel or two skilled secondary players and a legit defenceman away from being in the ring with these top teams.
Best effort of the southeastern swing. Tonight the difference was special teams.

Flames just went through the NHL's Death Valley and came out beaten. Not unexpected. Three of the NHL's top teams, all on their home ice, and played over a four day stretch? This had a losing streak written all over it. Time to go home and try to get back to the winning ways. Hopefully Treliving will see this team needs another player and does something to bring in another finisher.

What they need is basically Tomas Hertl, and nothing less.
