Not sure how credible this source is but article says Ullmark, Clifton, Moore for Boston all missed practice today due to 'covid testing issues'. So possibly Boston, likely Carolina and for sure Calgary all have Covid issues. Seems to be some evidence of on ice transfer though could be coincidence?

Rather than hit you over the head with a large object I'll just reiterate what people who actually know what they're talking about would tell you: The vaccine prevents adverse symptoms, hospitalization & death, its not a bulletproof cure all to transmission.

Honestly wonder if they don't just postpone Flames games until after the Christmas break.

the 6 players announced yesterday are out 10 days, unless they become symptomatic. So earliest they could play is vs Seattle on the 23rd

Any additional players on protocol today would not be available for practice etc. until the 24th at the earliest, and first game back would be the Oilers on the 27th

The CBJ, ANA and SEA games are likely to be shorthanded and/or lots of Heat players

Of course the risk of myocarditus is many orders of magnitude higher from contracting Covid than the vaccine, but they just don't listen to actual statistics and studies. Only Facebook ones. Maybe this anecdotal information from healthy athletes will open their eyes just a little bit.

In other words, a 16 day break (including Covid and Christmas distractions), before facing the Oilers

I'm not suggesting don't do it, if that's what you're implying. Just commenting on the (not at all surprising) ramifications.

Between the player availability, the cap issues, the roster construction and the proximity to a break it just feels like that might be the reasonable choice. 6 games is a lot to make up, but with the potential of the Olympics not happening they might be able to fit these in during those 3 weeks pending building availabilities.

So, the Flames are still scheduled to play on Saturday, and have 6 healthy forwards available, no cap room to bring up anyone else?

Perhaps with a bit of creativity, they could have 13-14 skaters available?

One of the ramifications of this (assuming they play some games with callups), is that it will eliminate the opportunity to pick up a salary at the deadline.

Any banked space they are building will get depleted, if they have to ice a team bolstered from Stockton.
