I thought it slid off Aho's stick right along the ice and in, but on replay I'm wrong and it didn't go right through Markstrom. I was wrong to crap on him for that goal.

Those save percentages arent meaningful, like what's the sample size (minutes)?

The good news is that his GAA is less than 1.00

Markstrom is full value this season. Top 5. Basically exactly as tabbed when he was signed.

Felt like the flames in OT tried to force plays way too much - especially backlund. Tried multiple passes through canes players hoping they would get through. Have to be patient and maintain possession rather than try to force it too much.

Flames played a great game and were unlucky not to win.

I think someone needs to tell Mangiapane that he needs to just keep shooting. He has arguably become the teams’ best finisher and it’s odd how often his attempts at passing on a scoring opportunity instead of just shooting doesn’t work out. Virtually every time. Don’t let teammates and media teasing you about how few assists you have get to your head Eat Bread… just shoot it. Shoot it every time.

good for you...many posters double and triple down even when presented with the evidence they are wrong

everyone makes mistakes, good on ya for owning it...sorry for getting so hot those goal line stands were something else tonight and had me pulling out my hair

I have one question about coaching decisions in OT. Who decides that Lindholm plays 4 of the 5 minutes and why is Anderson on the ice in OT?

Game shouldn’t have even gone to Overtime. The Flames should have put this one away in regulation. Some absolutely brutal luck tonight.

It’s stunning how poor this team is at 3 on 3, and I think a big part of that is the defense. We don’t have anyone with a killer offensive instinct on our blue line. I think that’s where we really see the hole left by Gio. With all due respect to Andersson and Tanev I don’t think either of them are mobile enough for 3 on 3. I’d for sure cut one of them and maybe even double shift Hanifin and Kylington.

May be Backlund has a small injury? He is not trying hard as like before and sometimes he seems intentionally waived from FO.
Or may be he just doesn't want injured before Olympics?

Solid game. A bit unlucky. But not much the guys in the locker-room are going to be happy about in loss to Hurricanes.

Monahan on the -1 had his guy where he was supposed to, but Rasmus was behind the net picking up his stick after the giveaway and his guy scored. Good thing stats show how the play worked.

Things you can do right now:

-Rotate Valimaki in
-Move Kylington or Hanifin into Andersson's spot on PP1
-Practice 3 on 3
-Brush up on your shuffleboard skills

Are Flames the luckiest team in the NHL in regards to avoiding injuries or is the medical staff just letting players play with injuries?

If Backlund isn't hurt, I would be shocked. He looks like he is playing shinny hockey out there.

6 OTL=3 Wins

6 wins would be better but still...Oilers got scored on with 2 mins left it could be worse

Bad PP. you make your own luck. Both fair.

That said from my seats Carolina was one of the tightest checking teams I’ve seen in ages. And easily the luckiest. Not just the goal line breaks. Players fell down and the puck would squirt to a Cane. Off a skate or body, whatever, to a white stick. Every time. I dont know if I’ve ever seen anything like it.

He had 1 shot on goal with almost 5 minutes of pp time, lost more face-offs then he won and was underwater on giveaways.

That's bad luck? He's our highest paid center.

I thought Dube was terrible in the OT...kept losing the puck and was quite careless. Flames need a lot more puck control, patience and care in the 3 on 3...they keep trying to be way too fancy-pants and threw the puck away a number of times just out of pure carelessness. Given that it's a possession period, they can't be doing that if they want to win.
