I thought the Flames carried most of the play and played good enough to win in general, but they didn't generate enough high quality chances. Maybe the fancy stats say different, but that was my impression. I don't hold it against them as I thought the Jets were extra tenacious and hungry tonight because of their slump. They are good team that has been underperforming.

Looking forward to the next game.

Their goalie said publicly...that’s enough, and backed it up!

Overall a decent effort but it felt like a bit of a sloppy game overall with he Flames allowing the Jets to have uncontested zone entries way too often. It also seemed like despite the jets not dominating the chances, they had their fare share and were an u lucky bounce or a good Flames stick away from having several more.

It felt like the play that led to the winning goal was a formula that worked for the jets all night off the rush.

After the first 5 minutes, Gaudreau reverted to the perimeter a bit, and passed up prime shooting opportunities.

Feel like his line could've struck another couple times, but they got a little shy in front of the net later in the game for some reason.

Team cycled it in the o-zone for long stretches but didn't do much with it.

This is what they do under Sutter the rare time they've struggled to find offense and it cost them like in the San Jose and Montreal losses.

They work for the cycle keeping things to the outside. Looks good but doesn't win games.

When they're like hyenas on the transition and being neutral zone turnover machines is when the offense flows. THEN once they have built a lead the offensive zone cycling is just used to kill the clock.

Oh and it was great to see Iggy. And congrats to Beasley on 25 years.

For a 90s night there was a noticeable lack of Informer by Snow. Very disappointing.

Bummer the Flames came up short, but in a 7 games series against this same Jets team I like Calgary’s chances of advancing. The momentum was all Flames in the 3rd so I applaud the effort and chalk this up to plain old bad luck.

TBH.... I am okay with this loss. The flames were the better team with the more puck possession and more scoring chances but just couldn't get that perfect shot like Connor.

The Jets stole this IMO with Hellebuyck.

I think we need someone with better footspeed to play that #6D role. Both Valimaki and Zadorov have proven too slow if the Cup is a legit aspiraration. Even Giordano, who'd be a massive upgrade otherwise, lacks the footspeed.

Brannstrom is a name I'd be interested in.

the other option is going full Quennville / Laviolette and just rolling two D pairs all playoffs.

Losses are ok if they're by a narrow margin and we're doing things mostly right.

So yeah I'd agree, it's not a hard loss to take because 7 or 8 out of 10 times that game falls in the Flames favour.

Teams that get their a###s beat several games in a row like the Jets are usually due for that unlikely one where they just need 2 or 3 bounces to get the result. They were literally 1 for 1 in the third, while the Flames went about 0 for 8 on their chances.

Happens.

And props to Hellebuyck for finding his composure after letting in those first two early and getting lit up the day before. I didn't see him bouncing back like that mid game. Honestly surprising with the way it was going early.

The Flames were the better team. Their goalie was better. Markstrom had one good chance and he didn’t make the save although it’s a good shot from a goal scorer

First line was dominant. Can’t expect Mangipane to shoot 30%+. Backlund looked better. Coleman is ok but not really creating anything.

Monahan and Pitlick were useless.
Zadorov is zadorov. Let’s go Treliving

Monahan had a grace A scoring chance on the PP in the third but beyond that was not even close.

Watched the game with pals in a pub without the sound. What a pleasure. No Cassie to wreck things.

Bottom 6 was a black hole all night. Need one more solid scoring threat down there to be really scary. Maybe someone on the farm idk
