Losing sucks, especially to the Leafs, but the team is 2 points out of the division lead (EDM does have one less GP) and a points% of .643 which equates to a 105 point team. Step off the ledge.

That pass on the power play by Tkachuk was so boneheaded I sometimes wonder what he is thinking. Like you wouldn't make that pass playing pickup hockey but Tkachuk tries it in a 1-1 game with 5 minutes to go?
How could this guy be the captain? I'm honestly done with Tkachuk. I hope they trade him while other GMs still think he plays good all the time. He plays 1 good game every 5 games.

Kylington's offensive upside is highly desirable, I'd rather watch him take chances and put up points.
This team needs more of that.

Giving up points in games that were winnable is what sank the team last year. Why is this season different?

These two are gamebreakers.
They just don't play on PP1 because reasons.

In a bit of a funk right. But that happens and you know what, they’re still earning points and are in a good spot in standings.
This has been a fun season so far and i cant wait for the next game.

Agreed. Games have all been far more watchable than last year. I was so disinterested in the team last year. I gave up watching at a certain point. I actually wanna watch every game this year

I agree, they look to be built for the playoffs.
Use the OT losses as points for now. 3 on 3 is irrelevant in the playoffs.
Just get the points.
The Flames will probably make the playoffs as long as they lose in OT rather than in regulation. I'm pretty sure their playoff chances are over 80%.
And they look like a team that's built for the playoffs.
It does look like they could really use some high end skill. But at the same time, I don't want them wasting assets on a rental.

Don’t want an already consistently broken Eichel who now also has a broken neck to heal back from @ 10 million a year for forever. That’s not what’s going to “push” this team over the edge.

If this team is solidly in a playoff spot I will be upset if they don't waste assets on a good rental. If it is someone like Meier I'm all for it, for all the reasons you stated.

Not there yet!
Carry on Oliver.

Its just sad that the likes of Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm leave it to Kylington to answer the call for offense.
Where are these guys all night. It shouldn't be Oliver's job, yet it takes him one rush to do what these guys can't.
Sweet goal though, for sure.

They won more games than Montreal...you could say not getting loser points sank them
anyway its a LONG season, at the end of the month the Flames will be done 25% of their road schedule. If they are it a decent spot they will have really set themselves up.

Gaudreau's pass was a laser through the defender, right on the tape. No goal without it, so I can't agree that Johnny isn't contributing.

Ah, Gaudreau was a big part of that goal
Kylington also provided the Leafs offense in regulation (ducks)

Gaudreau is a winger. His job on breakouts is to be stationary, or catch a cheating defense sleeping.
He did EXACTLY what his job was on that Kylington goal. Please don't lump him in with Lindholm and Tkachuk.
I also think Tkachuk played his best hockey on a line with Backlund because Backlund has been, for the last decade, the best centre iceman on the Calgary Flames.
It's ridiculous that Backlund has been arbitrarily demoted to 3C when he is STILL our best centre.

The Leafs $33 million trio weren’t that great. Isn’t that how you’re supposed to beat this team?
On nights like this, I look at some of the Flames who are making $4 or $5 million and for that, they should be better than the other teams depth players. And often they’re not.
Lots of blame I guess but the Flames sure seem to live and die with their top players more than our opponents do. Which is opposite to how this team was constructed.

I’m reluctant to respond , after your misunderstanding, when I acquiesced with the same point you made earlier.
Our best players aren’t playing or producing well enough for the Flames to consistently win. Very few quality chances.
That’s on them.
