I just hope that there is clarity - that this is a team that is different than the last couple of years, or its' the same in which case decisions need to be made.
Win 1 lose 1 will be the worst outcome.
Yeah I assume they will lose tonight and their record will start to look more like what we expected. Good enough to compete for a playoff spot in a pretty bad division but lacking the elite finishing talent to bring the team back when they are behind in games. When they get down by a goal after the midpoint of a game it seems like it's game over.

Good to see that the recent losses is allowing negative nellies to rise from the shadows again

Yep. Points in ten straight then two losses and the sky is falling.

Who said that? Honestly posts like this are the worst because we just can't discuss the current state of the team without the thin skinned fans whining about any talk that isn't positive. Yes there are some posters that are always negative but you can put them on ignore if you want. Some of use don't expect the team to have a 100+ point season and are going to be concerned when they hit down spells like now. It's going to be a miserable season for you if you can't accept they are going to hit the skids every so often.

Did I say I expect a 100+ point season? You are putting a lot of words in my mouth. You yourself admit that some posters are always negative so what's the difference between what I said and what you said?

Didn't you start putting words in people's mouths when you accused posters of saying the sky is falling? Because I have only seen some people worried the team may be normalizing. I just don't understand why some of you can't ignore posts that you feel are overly negative. That's what I do and it works fine.

All I know is we lost the first game, got points in 10 straight games, lost the next two games and we're in a 3-way tie for a wild card spot and exactly 1 point away from not even being in the playoffs.

Like here we are, finally in a position where there's some tangible improvement in our game and some belief that we can win most games... buuuut there are literally 5 points separating 1st and 10th in the entire conference -- so pretty much everyone is winning as much as we are, or more.

Man, so defensive, lighten up! I've seen a huge change in the way the team plays games and their approach in all zones on the ice. I'm feeling pretty good about this year's version of the Flames but know that there will be stretches when the team gets matched by their opponent.

Flames look like they are running out of gas. Pretty tough when you actually work your butt off consistently for a change . Bunch of pampered puppies. Suck it up boys and pull your socks up. Mangiapane and a couple of others are making the stars look bad. I think they’ll bounce back.

Calgary has the 9th best winning percentage in the NHL, 4th best in its conference and 2nd best in its division, and the 4th best goal differential in the NHL .

They are on pace for 107 points.

I don't think that's fair. It's impossible for a team to bust their hump every single game of an 82 game season. Darryl's style of play is taxing on players and there are going to be periods where the work ethic isn't up to the standards it was on their points streak. They were outplayed last night but the game was still winnable but the top line just hasn't got it done over the past few games and they need to find the back of the net as the team isn't good enough to win on a consistent basis when the top three forwards aren't getting things done.

They are performing beyond expectations. Be happy. They shouldn't be where they are in the standings.

They shouldn't? Based on your decree or... Flames have earned every point so far. Could argue that they should have more.

Based on expectations. They have been way better than expected. They have owned pretty well every game they have been in. I laugh at the comments from last night's game, because this was one of the few poor outings by the Flames this season. Based on performance, they should be better than they currently are. As good as Markstrom has been, he's lost more than he's won on his performance. The Flames have been dominant, and that was not expected.

Reading comprehension is a bitch. I clearly said the Flames are better than "expectations." They are way better than anyone expected. This is a team that the experts looked at and determined they were headed for the bottom of the standings. They are exceeding expectations. That is a huge positive. They were not expected to be where they are in the standings. Accept the surprise, and hope it continues.
