I didn’t find the end of S4 of the Wire to be overly depressing. The whole season was a downer. Unlike S3 which had some high points, it felt like the entirety of S4 was one big lump of depression. It was damn good tho.

S5 is off to a bit of a weird start. WTF is McNulty up to?

Just got into The New Girl for some mindless TV. It's got enough laughs to keep me along for the ride for now. Nothing earth shattering, but fun enough

Stick with it, 5th is good, but they make McNulty into a bit of a caricature of himself but was still satisfied I think with the ending though

Delhi Crime on Netflix is pretty interesting from a cultural perspective. It follows the investigation of a pretty famous gang rape on a bus in India.

Watched 1 episode of The Ranch on Netflix, oh my god, how has that made it to 8 season. Complete trash
I made it half way through episode 1 of the Ranch, there was just nothing there.

Clarkson's Farm is probably the best new thing on TV right now.

I was struggling to get into into it despite knowing it was awesome. It may have been a byproduct of too many god shows at the same time this summer. I'll definitely circle back to it this week.

Curb Your Enthusiasm needs to be here somewhere.

That's a solid list. I think 2019-2021 could have Curb Your Enthusiasm in there as well.

Edit: I should have read the whole thread before commenting. Strange Brew beat me to it.

South Park is too early IMO, early 2010's is when it was at it's peak. I'd take out 30 Rock and put SP and Parks & Recreation in it's place

Watched a bit of Yellowstone over the past few nights. It’s alright. I’ve found myself laughing out loud at some stuff I shouldn’t be. Just a little too corny and melodramatic for me. And a lot of Deus Ex Machina happening all the time.

Blow up a propane tank and find a perfectly preserved and intact full Dino skeleton? Please.

I also find the pacing painfully slow. Not the story pacing, but the scene pacing. I think I counted 15 straight minutes of just establishing scenery shots at one point. And music cues seem to come in too late to try and add to this slowness, but it just feels off too me.

Like all shows the inability of live round to puncture objects upsets me.

The office ambush where buddy flips the wood desk over and is fine.......

30 Rock pisses all over Parks and Recreation.

I like P&R a lot, but the multiple layers and subtilty of jokes in 30 Rock is amazing.

Tina Fey is a comic genius. I mean Mean Girls, COME ON!

American Rust was excellent. Right up until that garbage season finale.

The episode itself wasn’t bad but it seems quite clear they held an episode back. It’s only 9 episodes, which is bizarre. I’m convinced it was written, possibly even filmed, for 10 but they just withheld the last one.

It literally just ####ing ends with nothing resolved at all. So fair warning to anyone who wants to watch. I’d wait for S2 or just not bother.

30 Rock has some of the sharpest writing in the history of TV and is thoroughly entertaining from start to finish, but sharp wit doesn't mean funniest show. I laughed out loud a lot more watching Parks than 30 Rock, even though I'd rate 30 Rock a technically better show. Also the casting for P&R was outstanding, just look at how many of those actors became A list stars

I howled far more at 30 Rock than P&R. At times you needed to rewind scenes to capture all of it, it would come at you hard and fast.

30 Rock was certainly a case of the sum being greater than the parts.

I watched Chapelwaite, it wasn’t bad, but Adrian Brody carried the series. It was weird to see Eric Peterson portraying a really mean character.

Also cool to see Adrian Brody again in the last episode of Succession. The awkward silences between Logan and Kendall was something else.

+1 for 30 rock over P&R.

I truly loved both shows, but the writing on P&R was warmed over material from 30 Rock and the Office mixed. It was endearing, but unoriginal.
