Not possible. He would have been traded before his NTC kicked in, it will get done.

You may be correct, I assume Treliving would have tried to trade Johnny if he knew there was no way he would sign.
But the question remains. If it is not possible that Johnny will not be back, why hasn’t he signed a contract?

It's quite possible that Treliving at one point thought signing him was likely and things have changed.
I would not be surprised if Gaudreau signs, but I think he is going to wait until the last minute to get all the leverage. At some point, the window to free agency might be too close or enticing for him to resist though. Given his age and production, he will be the premiere free agent on the market in 2022. Every team will have to overpay to have him.

Could be simply that he wants to pump up his salary with fresh data. He started the year on a heater, and while he has cooled off a bit, he looks a lot closer to (say) a $9 million player than he did after last season.
Gaudreau has something to prove this year, and so far he's proving it pretty well.

He also can play center and apparently looked pretty good at center for about 20 games in Hartford but he needs work on faceoffs, trade for him, convince him to do a 10 game stint in Stockton to play center and poof, we might have our talented center

Kravtsov is a 9th overall pick, and Rangers reportedly want a top prospect for him.
Unclear Flames have anyone they would rate on that level and if they did, if it's even worth the flight risk. If you acquire him you basically have to guarantee him an NHL roster spot because he refuses to report to the AHL.

That's untrue. His agent specifically said the player is willing to play on the farm. He's just done with the Rangers.

I think the Flames could safely slot him into the roster. And I think Sutter is a cure for attitude.

I'd take him for a prospect. I think we could use an add on the skill front after waiting out the Eichel situation to no avail.

Kravtsov would be a really good add to the system, if they can get him for a lesser prospect. Try and send them a player like Ruzicka or Nikolev along with a conditional mid round pick.

With the way Ruzicka is dominating the AHL right now and him being a big bodied Center I wouldn’t be so quick to deal him right now even if he is considered a ‘leader’ prospect. Nikolev + a mid pick doesn’t sound bad to me though for sure.

If we're trying for kravtsov I maintain that the trade is probably involving pelletier. I still think it's a good swap for us as we have Pelletiers already (mangi+dube) but no kravtsovs.
Edit: and don't get too caught up on plummeting value. The reality is its a 2018 top 10 pick with little to no shot at nhl yes vs a 2019 20+ pick in the same boat.

It’s amazing how many definitive statements about players are made that are completely baseless. So annoying.

You want Kravtsov to supplement the likes of Pelletier and company, not swap the deck chairs around. You don't want to give up a great prospect who is really performing well for another prospect who has elected to take their ball and go home, and is trending in the wrong direction. Make a deal for the kid, sure. But this is a diminishing returns scenario, not unlike the Lias Andersson situation for the Rangers. That's the comparable, and a second round pick or a B grade prospect should be all the Rangers should expect. Anything more is a mistake.

Was thinking along the lines of Heineman and the Oilers’ pick.

Looking towards the deadline and IF Calgary is still in the playoffs (which I do believe), who are some possible players we could be looking at?
I think a 2nd/3rd line RW would be the biggest hole this team needs to fill. Aka, send Ritchie down to the 4th line/13th forward.
Not a big fan of Kravtsov, he hasn’t shown he can play at an NHL level.
