Guess we can blame Tre for this loss for that non-Eichel trade. Just in time for a slump?

They did play like a team that nearly had two of its most prominent players traded.

Well, if we're going to lose, get a point out of it. 9 straight with points!
If we're collecting points in all our losses, I will take it, again and again.

No 3 on 3 in playoffs. We're better at the 5 on 5 thing anyways.

Markstrom's ebbs and flows have been strange. May give you .897 or .998 level goaltending. Flip a coin. And the good save followed up by a bad goal thing. Stinkin' Comeau sharp angle squeaker changed the trajectory of the game. I think the Flames would've cruised the rest of the way if not for that one. And that's on Marky. He giveth and he taketh away.. just has to get back dialed in.

It was their worst game...

but they outshot and out chanced the other team and had the puck the majority of the game

lost on a bad goal

They allowed 5 high danger chances

I was thinking

Should they allow reviews for binary / black and white calls?

At the same time, they were going to even that up within seconds and then the Flames scored

So in the end, little impact on the game

That’s a tough save for any goalie.

Markstrom the goat horns on the 2-2 goal, but not the OT goal in my eyes.

I agree

People love to look at and talk about goalie stats

They are working on improving tracking of shot situation and location, but aren’t able to really track shot placement

And shot placement (which is enabled by time and space, situation , skill, and luck) isn’t factored in

Well placed shot beats goalie in OT. End of story

Coleman and his cap hit are about as far from an 'issue' as you can get.

the combover goal was the difference but lets not act like the OT winner was a shot from half or something. It was a HD chance, 3 on 3 with lots of room a player doesn't usually have in normal play and he put it just inside the post.

What is the combover goal? Is it one of these?

Stars played a stifling game like they usually do against us. Will take the point over a regulations loss. Those loser points will add up. 9 game point streak still intact. Only 1 loss in regulation. Will gladly take that at this stage of the season.

Markstrom looks like he's starting to fade a bit. Hopefully get Vladar in there to give him some rest and let him work on fine tuning some things. Can't expect Markstrom to be a wall every game, but we have a good backup who can slot in nicely. Hope the team uses him.

Stars are always a tough out for the Flames. Something about the Flames seems to bring out the best in Benn and Seguin. Markstrom is simply one of those goaltenders that is prone to stinkers every once in a while. As long as he keeps them to a minimum it's not much to worry about.

one more thought, I loved seeing kylington use his skating and puck skill to basically create the zadorov goal scoring chance, on his own.

His potential could be huge!

Without some individual Kylington efforts in the last two games, we don’t get our OTL points.

He is a difference maker for this team.

Andersson is fine, but I just don't see the offense you would want to see from him back there. Kylington seems good at getting pucks through due to his ability to walk the line and change the angle. Plus he's probably our best skater, so he could take some of the pressure off Gaudreau in carrying the puck up, and also get back to retrieve pucks that get out.
I get what you are saying, but it is also nice to have that added dimension on PP2. It feels equally dangerous to PP1 this year compared to last.

Sutter isn’t shy using them either. I don’t recall seeing this much use of the second unit 50 seconds into a power play. If it isn’t working, he’s switching it up. It’s refreshing.

People really don't give the stars enough credit for their defensive game. They went to the Stanley cup finals a couple of years ago with the same game. They made Colorado, who we considered a favorite, look just like the Flames last night. They have a very stifling game that makes the other team look slow and boring.

That’s it, the Flames didn’t look great last night but part of that is because Dallas is the new Minnesota Wild in that all their games are just played in mud.

Saw some stats that going back to last season 50% of their games have went to OT - which is just crazy. They are playing these type of boring low event games with everyone.

In the end Flames still out chances then and only have up 6 high danger chances. Just a boring, muck it up, and get to OT Dallas Stars game.

This is a game though that ends up 5-2 Dallas last year though. Team would have collapsed after the late 2nd period and early 3rd period goal and Dallas would have added a 4th and an empty net goal.

Dallas definitely had better goaltending too. Could have just as easily been 3-1 or 4-1 flames. In a seven game series against Dallas, I see the Flames winning.
