I didn’t know either, but he does have Eric Duhatschek following him.

I remember Steve MacFarlane. He's a decent beat writer.

Coronato's performance tonight caused the Sabres to tell Vegas to pound sand I bet

It's time for the Flames to take the next step as a franchise, to do really well both on the ice and off. The team will play well and somehow find a way to add Eichel without losing a lot from the roster.
It's time.

I wish we could get him too...we need to take some risk.
I would do Tkachuk and zadorov for Eichel.
We keep prospects and I frankly think Tkachuk is over-rated

Eichel and Sutter… I don’t even want to dream about it until it’s a reality

Tkachuk comes with a $9m qualifying offer. Is that something that would entice the Sabres? I doubt it. Zadorov can't get into the Flames lineup right now and is a pending UFA, he doesn't exactly carry a lot of value here.
Mangiapane, Dube, Kylington, Coronato, Zary, Pelletier, 1sts ... those are the pieces that are interesting if you're Buffalo, I think. Is there a deal involving some of those pieces that makes sense for both sides? I do think so. But I just can't see a deal centering around other pieces at this point.

For the flames though a guy like Zad will also have to be included to make the $$ work. I agree with Tkachuk though there’s no way Buffalo would consider him in a trade; heavy upcoming price tag and he holds the key to his future and can walk into UFA if he wants to after the 9 mill qualifier.

American born superstar, they need a new face of the franchise. I think lots of teams would want him and I think they should shop him.

If the sabres want to bring in a star player that are likely going to have to pay them $9 million. A player of Tkachuk's calibre is not taking a discount, and will require an overpayment, to head to Buffalo. I see the bigger issue with Tkachuk being rumors of him wanting to head to St Louis. Although with the contract his brother just signed that pretty much squashes any chance of the Tkachuk brothers reuniting in st. Louis.
I agree though, Vegas wants someone good and young from our roster. It has to be someone like Mangiapane, otherwise a deal would have been made.

Love Mangiapane but this is a sell high situation.

They need a winger for Cozens, not sure why they wouldn’t be interested in Tkachuk. I don’t know why a single team in the league wouldn’t be interested in Tkachuk if they can make the cap work.

Because he costs $9M only to see him leave for StL and no longer be a winger for Cozens.

I don't really believe this narrative.
His brother just signed a long term deal in Ottawa, would wouldn't Matthew do the same?

Not really Brady RFA can’t play without signing, Matty 1 year arbitrated contract straight to UFA.

I was a big Tkachuk fan until the last year. What’s up with him? He seems to be regressing. Can he play the fast high tempo game which is starting to take over? Any evidence that he has tried to improve his skating? Now that Brady has gotten paid it will be interesting to watch how he does in Ottawa this year. Will he play up to the new contract or take his foot off the gas. As much as I don’t want Eichel , I’d trade Tkachuk and future picks for him. I don’t think it’s a good idea to give up any of our current prospects unless it’s very minor ones.

Buffalo aren't taking Tkachuk off our hands, and I don't think we have the players and prospects needed to land him under any circumstances.
I'd also have sever reservations about why he'd even want to come here. It makes me question his ambition. Vegas makes way more sense for a number of reasons, including weather, taxes, and competitiveness. Vegas have been a contender since day one, and we haven't really done much since 1989 other than one good playoff run in 2004.
