I noticed the turning away and not embracing his teammates. Whether it is something or nothing only time will tell.

Seriously? Rubbing salt in wounds is half of Tkachuk’s game.

Now if you want to trade Tkachuk and a first for him , fine assuming there’s 2 firsts coming back if Eichel is unable to play again or regain his past glory.
|
I would do that trade
To Sabres: tkachuk and a Lottery protected first
To Flames: Eichel, and if Surgery does not go well or is not able to play a certain number of games 2 First rounds picks back to Calgary

Also, immediately after the goal, he reached up to grab his mouth guard but dropped it, so he bent over to pick it up off the ice. By the time he stood up, everyone had already gathered round.

He does that stuff when he’s trying to help lead the team to victory. Not when it’s 5-1 in the third.

What?
Eichel prime was every bit as good as Matthews. Matthews just got drafted by a team that tanked/rebuilt in the most successful way.
IMO Jack is actually better, but even if you wanna split the difference and call them equals, there's still the fact that Eichel is a righthanded shot. Among our best forwards:
Gaudreau - L
Mangiapane - L
Lindholm - R
Tkachuk - L
Backlund - L
Coleman - L
Dube - L
Monahan - L
Lucic - L
Pitlick - R
Eight of ten are left shots. Only one of the two right shots belongs on the powerplay.
A star RHS forward who will be on PP1 would be a huge addition in terms of pure value-added compared to Auston Matthews.

Put me on the Eichel > Matthews train.
No way Matthews has the kind of success he does in Buffalo with the support that Eichels had throughout his career. Switch the two and have Eichel playing with Hyman and Marner and a PP with Tavares as well and he's out producing Matthews easily.

I love that in this article of why Calgary should be serious about bringing in Kravtsov, it drops this little tidbit from the start of the season until now.
Quote:
The team seems to have two lines figured out through seven games, being the Lindholm and Backlund lines. Dube and Andrew Mangiapane have currently been playing with Brett Ritchie on the right wing, which Mangiapane’s hot start has somewhat masked. The line in 32 minutes of ice-time at five on five has a Corsi for percentage (CF%) of 40 percent and a 31.68 percentage expected goals for percentage (xGF%). In 23 minutes that Mangiapane and Dube have played away from Ritchie, they have a 55.32 CF% and a 67.62 xGF%.
|
He does offer up the two top prospects in the system going back the other way, in Zary or Coronato, and I don't think that's realistic. I think that Kravtsov is worth a 3 through 5 skating prospect on this team. He does state in the comments that any of the top three Calgary prospects going the other way would be a lateral move, and is not sure if it's in Calgary's interest.
Can Tre sell the Rangers on Petterson or Ruszicka? (maybe plus a 2nd)

Yeah I agree, Kravstov would be a really nice addition to that line.
If you can get Kravstov for a 2nd+Ruzicka/Petterson, I do that all day. I wouldn't be willing to move Zary, Pelletier or Coronato for him though.

When he was drafted, he was compared to Kuznetsov for his skill and edgy play. The only reason he was around at the Rangers pick was said to be the Russian factor. He's 6'3", plays a bit of a power game, has skill, and skates very well. Very hard to knock off the puck. This is the kind of prospect we are sorely lacking, but as stated above, he needs some seasoning.

I think we're undervaluing Kravtsov a bit. I would be nervous to give up Zary, but if the opportunity to grab this kid comes along, I think you have to look at it.

If Eichel doesn't work out, what about addressing our top 6RW? It would be nice to have a legit weapon in the top 6 over Ritchie.
With Montreal struggling, Toffoli might be a nice look? Only 2 more years after this season at 4.25. Proven goalscorer and has played under Sutter. Seems like an obvious fit.

I think the Habs would hold onto him.
I personally would like to go after Kessel, if we got a 3rd team to retain more on Kessel's contract down to 2m (I think a contract can only go 75% max discount, someone correct me if wrong). I don't think he would cost very much, and although he might not seem like a Sutter player, I think he would be a great acquisition as a playmaker and a scorer. He and Gaudreau on separate lines would make us pretty dangerous.
Another option is if San Jose is out of the running at the TDL, I would love for us to acquire C/LW Hertl, and extend him right away. He would compliment our top 6 nicely, and Sutter would love him.

Hertl would be a fantastic add.
I really want that RHW RW slot to be filled by a legit scoring threat.
Having a 1-2 punch of Lindholm/Hertl would be unreal though

So winning games, does it make it more likely we trade for Eichel or less in people’s opinion?

I think more likely only if he can be had for futures/prospects + Monahan (possibly to a third team like Ottawa) + zadorov (cap reasons). I really don’t think the GM and coach want to mess with the on ice roster too much right now. It would hurt to lose Monahan but I think at this point it would hurt more to lose Dube or Valimaki. I’m not saying those players are a hard no in a trade for eichel… I’m just saying I bet the push to acquire eichel right now is to do so without losing either of them.

Honestly the same could be considered for Buffalo and the streak they find themselves in; adding a player like Monahan into their roster strengthens them immediately and while they find themselves with a hot start.

What a wild retool that would be. Trade away an elite centre and make the playoffs?
