Um the Leafs would need to add for Tkachuk and retain salary. Marner makes $11 million. He definitely isn't worth Tkachuk 1 for 1 and I wouldn't like that trade as a Flames fan.

You mean the part about the great starts and that's why they start the clock counting down in games?
Not only does he have a good "feel" for the game and his players...agreed...he knows exactly what's going on with them. Love his comments about giving Pitlick time to catch up on the game and get him up to speed. Patience is good.

I was kinda joking, obviously a 5th is low, and I like Monahan and appreciate what he’s done. I really hope he sorts it out. But come the deadline if he has 12 points and is playing 14 mins a night I’d rather see him moved for cap flexibility, and would wish him very well just like Sammy B.
If he’s killing it, he’s a keeper for our playoff run and next year sorts itself out when it does.

Total trap game. Depleted Penguins, last game of successful road trip. Let's see if the coaches have prepared them to not take this one for granted. In years past, a virtual guaranteed loss.

I don't get all the Monahan hate after 6 games. Recency bias? I agree he needs to better, I also agree that he shouldn't have been playing injured all last year. But maybe lets give the guy a 1/4 season to get up to speed after a major hip surgery? Has he not been our most consistent goal scorer since Jarome? He may not be the play driving, 2 way, #1 center we hoped for, but he has been a top 5 scorer from his draft year. Has he not earned a bit of patience from the fan base? It's like most of you have never been injured before. Recovery/rehab can take time, especially at the highest level of sport, in a game that moves so quickly.
I hope Monahan can return to form, but I am not convinced that he will or won't. However, I am sure that he deserves some patience and selling low on him makes no sense. I am also sure that this forum has been getting more an more negative since I started coming here in 2013.
So for some positivity: Flames are 4-1-1 to start the season, best record through 6 games in my memory! They have a chance to sweep a 5 game road trip in the east! Our top line looks great even though Tkachuk isn't contributing much yet, lookout when he finds his game! Mangiapane is found money and has looked like a top 30 player in the league going back to last season, world championships and to start this season! Our goalie tandem inspires the most confidence since Kipper! We have a world class coach that makes a mediocre d core on paper look great! We have amazing fancy starts to start the season! Flames start on time and it looks like they now know how to hold a lead! Lots to be happy about as a flames fan.

I don't think people are hating on Monahan. I think people just have a hard time pinning down what Monahan is going forward. It's also hard to figure out what he is worth on the hypothetical trade market.

Sportsnet is going with the BOS-CAR game on 4K, instead of the Flames.
