Watched the pvr delay. Got a little closer than it needed to be but 5-1 with less than 10 min left they took their foot off the gas.

Exciting start to the season hope it continues.

I didn't believe a coach could overcome 15 years of suck, but it turns out 15 years of suck was caused by 15 years of sucky coaching. I own that mistake and I accept whatever ####posts are headed my way. Have at me.
I used your post as a jumping off point but honestly there’s so many perpetually negative Nancy’s around, it would be unfair to single out just one person.

But I do respect you owned it.

Like most things, I was just poking fun. Who am I to judge other people’s fandom? To each his own. I didn’t think Sutter would get substantially different results from this group, so what do I know?

Yes but from Tre's perspective hiring the old GM as your first coach would have been odd based on optics.

Vindication for those who have noticed it and called it out

He even acknowledges that the team works hard, just has to learn how to play the right way. Makes one think about those with the self proclaimed balanced perspective, arriving at the conclusion that it’s likely largely the players, because they were inconsistent under multiple coaches.

Seems like Darryl has his team’s back and we know he’s no stranger to the old ‘us against the world’

So glad to see a real coach. This team has too many good players that have been inconsistent for years

I’m really liking what we are seeing of late

I believe Zamler had a meltdown after last game about the "ownership" of the gifs posted in the PGT. He said he was done with the gif thing.

So that maybe the last of Yanet.

It is too bad Treliving didn't give Bennett a full season with Sutter. I wonder if Sam refused to sign anything that didn't take him right to UFA

All I can say is that for my part, for the first time in a long time the team has convinced me that when they lose it's because hockey is a fluid game and sometimes you just lose because no team goes 82-0. It hasn't felt that way in forever. It finally feels like a loss can just be a loss, and not an indictment on the organization for poor talent or poor resilience (or both). Coaching has made a world of difference in the team's GAF meter, and consequently my own GAF meter as a fan.

I have 2 concerns, however:

1) This is a concern for after this season: Darryl manages to get the most from his players individually. I'm afraid that in the future we will not be able to afford some assets that we currently have due to performance and salary cap. Anyway, tomorrow's problem.

2) Monahan's FO% was 8. That's 1/12.
The FO% is a pretty big aberration even this year. Monahan’s been good in the dot before tonight. Perhaps he was up against someone a lot who just has his number.

Game Takes: Flames 5 Devils 3

- Flames get up 4-0 early and survive a bumpy third
- Mangiapane with two more goals
- Lindholm returns to the goal list
- Vladar with win #2

This team is like night and day from the last couple years it’s insane.

The effort level and buy in is the best part.

Still haven’t trailed since game 1 I think haha

Going up 5-1 would be so damn sweet!

Also where’s that snek thread?!?

I don’t consider myself a negative nellie (not here at least). But I did have a concern that while coaching matters, the group just wasn’t good enough for a good coach to move the needle enough to change things. That looks incorrect.

That's an impressive list. The greatest goal scorer of all time, plus Ovechkin and Lindholm.

Which is a damn shame. One of my favorite posters here, memes or not. The worst thing is I didn't see any actual malice on the part of the guys who upset him. You post things online and people are bound to snag em, hell I've even got a little folder of gifs I've nabbed around the site crediting the users that made them, because I merely like what they made. Hope Zamler was just having a bad day or something.

around the 2min mark.

Here’s my (potentially) unpopular opinion (and one that I’ve held since Gio got claimed in the expansion draft):

Lucic should be the interim Captain.

On the ice, he’s honest in what he provides to this team and he can still (and will!) provide physical backup for his teammates when needed.

Off the ice, the players love him, and, as evidenced by this video, he is one of the most articulate and insightful interviews on the team. He understands the game to a significant degree (I foresee coaching and/or TV analyst work in his post-career future).

He’s not the long-term option (of course), but I think he’s the best choice to mentor the next captain (Tkachuk…?).

For this year, if they do intend to name a captain, I hope it’s him (as alone as I may be in possessing this opinion).
