I was watching the Jersey broadcast and they showed Vladar signalling to the ref to blow the play down a good 5 (at least) seconds before the 2nd goal against him went in. Are the refs not obligated to blow it down if a goalies helmet is unsafe? I believe a strap had come unbuckled.

Two weird goals against Darth tonight. I guess he deserved a better GAA, but in some respects he didn't because of that first goal which should count for two against. Hopefully that's a lesson learned.

I just can't imagine playing any better on the second of a back to back in New York.

Yeah there was lots of time. The puck even exited the zone IIRC. I don't know if he didn't get their attention or what the reason was.

Outstanding first period. Don't blame the team for the third on a back to back on the road. Wins a win, let the alcohol flow!

I liked it when the showed the graphic for the leading goal-scorers in the league and didn't have room for all the 6-goal scorers, so the guy from Edmonton didn't make the cut.

Don't let the highs get too high, and don't get the lows get too low. It's really hard not to be high on the team, because they make it look easy. It's been so long since they made hockey look easy.

The team didn't get rattled by the first goal despite the bad giveaway. They didn't let the officials bring them down. They didn't let the mask incident affect them. Simply put they looked to be in control the whole game, and they did it for 3 straight games now.

PS: glad the 4th line contributed offensively, and that Monahan had an assist on the PP.

I misunderstood. I didn't see most of the game so I thought the comment was that it was missed.

My mistake.

He's young and young goalies are going to make mistakes like that. I'm confident he'll learn from it.

Unlike Mike Smith who is still making the same mistakes 200 years later.

Good to see Monahan get on the scoresheet, and Tkachuk to get a goal

Monahan had a rough night on the Faceoff dot though.

Vladar was clearly signaling the ref and at one point even looked over the the corner ref and verbalized it.
The ref actually willingly ignored the broken mask, that was terrible and dangerous officiating.

There must really be something to Sutter's pace and conditioning comments where he was hired. IMO the biggest difference between now and years past is we're the fitter, harder-working team most nights now. Now that the results are plain to see on the ice it seems so obvious, but it's making it so much easier for our skill players to shine.

The ref was looking right at him...should have blown it down with the puck left the zone at the very least

One thing I have really noticed this season is the passing has been monumentally better. Great road trip, 1 big game to go.

Also, I have to say that Mangiapane is much better than I gave him credit for. Based on last year I had him topping out as Mason Raymond, but he might actually be the best player on the roster right alongside Lindholm and Johnny. It’s hard to choose, and it’s a good problem to have.

I get a lot of flak for being captain negative, I know, but I have nothing bad to say about this group so far. They play like they care, which is all I ask, and which is more than we’ve gotten under the last however many godawful coaches this team has employed. The whole is finally more than the sum of its parts. You love to see it, so I don’t mind eating crow because of it.
I think you also underestimate the roster because they did poorly under poor coaches
