It's not complicated. You have one ballot for the city stuff, and other for the provincial.

There's some arguments based on 2014 Supreme Court reference case that anyone elected would be disqualified for appointment to the Senate.

Three elected senators have been appointed representing Alberta. While it is unlikely that Trudeau will ever appoint one he (hopefully) won't be PM forever.

Hypothetically, let's suppose Jett Thunders wins today's senate election and Erin O'Toole becomes the next PM whenever the current minority government inevitably falls. Do you really think O'Toole would appoint Thunders to the senate? These non-binding senate elections are a farce and a pointless waste of taxpayer money. No PM -- of any party -- is going to appoint an elected senator if it's not someone with whom they share a political alignment.

Don't know. That is a hypothetical, I was stating a fact.

Yeah, I found it very straightforward and efficient. I was in and out in under 5 minutes.

I liked the scantron. Why don't they do that in the Federal elections too? Seems like a pretty good way to do it (ie, digitally counted for speed, but still having paper ballots as a backup).

Yes but why did you vote for a party that has purely adopted short term thinking and populist ideologies and your party of sober second thought? IMO you'd want something long abandoned by the right wing, long term investment based thinking.

No, they clearly told me if I knew the candidates for senate and trustee I could fill it out but it was optional.
