Based on this game I would trade Tkachuk and Gaudreau and make Mangiapane captain, give him a 8 year contract, and my vote in tomorrow’s election.

I'm actually not seeing a problem with the effort. Lots of shots on goal, just no finish and weird bounces the other way.

If they’re not running teams out of the rink, it’s because they aren’t good enough.

Haven't been watching but comments like needing more from big guns tells me nothing has changed from last year. Its what happens with a stubborn and horrible GM unwilling to make any changes.

I do not.
It's a lot like Leah Hextall. I want them to be good, and I want them to get the chance to get good, because it would be nice if all our commentators weren't basically the same... But they're just not good. They both have the same problem: sounding like they're trying really, really hard to convince you that they're hockey commentators. "This is a thing a real life hockey commentator might say" is the entire vibe here.

The effort is there. They do care.
They don’t have the horses.
But we’ve known this for three years, and 40 minutes of the usual season-opening dreck against the Oilers doesn’t change that.
