23 guys and maybe 14 or 15 of them (+ Coleman) belong on an NHL roster.

Probably going to be a long year.

Every team has a few replacement level players. Calgary's problem is elite top end talent. Realistically the top 9 is easily top 10 in the whole league though. The questions are basically can the young D on the team improve? Can they move the puck to the forwards? What Markstrom will we see? The problem isn't Ritchie and Gudbranson.

Reminder: as in previous years, the list of guys that make the roster out of camp doesn’t mean the same thing as the list of guys on the roster for the first game.

WTF! Dustin Boyd did everything asked to make the roster. Where is the meritocracy?

I don’t know what a Satnley Cpu is but I want one. Sounds super fast.

Simon is apparently on the Penguins so IDK if I agree. These are all NHL players...I bet some of the guys you are excluding have cup rings.

Flames forwards are definitely better than last season...and I don't know why anyone is excluding Coleman. One game suspension he will be on the roster.

I think Sutter said something about a knee sprain. He got hurt in the first game against the Oilers AHLers. He only played something like 6 minutes in that game, he left late in the first period, returned for a couple of shifts to start the second and that was it.

Oops read Tyler Pitlick for some reason. Parsons wouldn't get vaccinated. Officially: "unable to satisfy quarantine requirements."

Meh.

Sutter is going to have to carry around a massive tube of lipstick to keep that pig looking good all year lol

Maybe they'll surprise. Here's to hoping

Can't believe Bennett didn't make our roster out of camp. The guy just can't get a break.

He doesn't play for Calgary anymore so stop bringing him up.

Having a cup ring from 10 years ago as a part time player does not mean you are still a high caliber NHLer

Both Lewis and Richardson are 10 years removed from a cup and 2-4 years removed them being relevant.

Both of those players aren't on top 15 teams roster.

Who said high caliber? he said they don't belong on an NHL roster

Playing 26 playoff games in a cup run is a part time player?

there are worse players in the league on rosters

Who are these top 15 teams because you would be suprised

Simon and Brian Boyle are on the Pens by the looks of it...every team has vets that will be in and out of the lineup

Not a good roster. Could be another tough year.

Yikes, hard to get excited about that roster. Hope they prove me wrong though.

Just glad another disappointment of an off-season is nearly done. Time to watch some hockey that matters and see if these guys can find some magic somehow.

The Flames simply need to finish in the top 15 to prove you wrong. To be honest I count more than 15 NHLers on the team no matter how you slice it. Either that or most of the teams in the league have 4-5 forwards, and 2-3 defensemen that are either prospects that just cracked the team or are removed from being relevant.

Just for practice take Tampa's roster, I think they're a top 15 team...
Forwards from capfriendly:
Kucherov, Stamkos, Point, Palat, Cirelli, Killorn, Colton, Perry, Bellemare, Maroon, Raddysh, Katchouk, Barre-Boulet, Smith, Joseph.

Half of them are replacement level players by your criteria, or not NHLers.

I suggest some of you look at the bottom end of the other rosters in the Pacific division

Also don't forget there is another team in the NHL now...there is a whole team worth of players in the league that wouldn't be last year
