Swing for the fences Brad. Save your job and save us the pain of a lengthy rebuild. Just get it done. Pay the price. Take the risk. It's so ####ing obvious it's painful. Honestly, I can't believe how many people don't get this. It's a huge opportunity. Risky? Yes. Otherwise he wouldn't be available at all. The downside is we are forced into a rebuild that seems inevitable anyway. This is professional sports. The object is to win. Opportunity is knocking. Answer the damn door. You CAN'T win a cup without a superstar.
This is a watershed moment for Brad. His entire legacy hinges on this imo. #### or get off the pot.

Thank goodness you're not the GM. This is a risky proposition with the team not being here nor there. Jack Eichel isn't the game changer this team has been waiting for to take them over the top. He helps, but at what cost. This team can't afford giving it all away - especially giving away the future. If it doesn't work, there isn't any hope whatsoever for the future. Gotta weigh the risk.

Eichel would be the best center since Nieuwendyk with the potential to be the best 1c in franchise history. This isn't complicated

No, I think "extremely dramatic" sums it up well. I mean, you are waving your hands in the air and shouting about risking everything, and yet then ignore the most valuable pieces the Flames have to offer. It just feels like you are making a lot of noise for the sake of it.

Might be true, but you still don't pay one dime over market value, and as the buyer you get to set the market.
I actually do have confidence that Treliving is playing this the right way. I hope it works out, but not at any cost.

Yeah but you're one of the fans that is OK with with being OK in my eyes, it's like you want them to magically win and want to give them them the benefit of the doubt despite years of utter futility. Just my opinion. You're an optimistic dude, that's cool. You seem smart too. We just see it differently. Whatever. All good

Of course it is. There are major questions about the surgery, and secondly what the longevity of his career is. Taking that into account, you have to risk what he will bring, now and in the future, to what price you have to pay to bring him in. If he's completely damaged goods, and has a deteriorating neck issue, and you've mortgaged your future, what are you expecting to get back if you were to deal him? Not to mention this all excludes the insurance aspect involved. You shouldn't be paying full price and 31 teams know that from the sounds of it.

I think Coronato will be more impactful than either of Zary or Pelletier anyways, so I'm down.

Yeah I would love to hold onto Coronato. He seems legit and addresses needs. I see Boeser in him.

So rebuild the team if it doesn't work out. Big deal. Just do it right this time.

I don't know if you're trolling, but if you deal a ton of your assets to get him (including current roster players, prospects and picks), and Eichel is chronically injured, what do you expect to get back to rebuild? Sounds like a trolling job.

Tre has made a number of trades and signings over the years to improve this team. He may have in fact tried to do a shake up this summer but the cost was too high.
You can't just blindly give away players, picks and prospects and expect to win. To me that's a sure fire way to become a constant loser.

Huh? Look at 2013. We had nothing. Finish bad for a few years. Draft well. Manage your assets. Make shrewd moves. Problem with that rebuild is Treliving got fooled into thinking the team was ready and rushed things. It's not rocket science. Hire a good GM with a vision. Sports is cyclical, it happens to every team eventually. Whatever. Better than being stuck in the middle forever

Treliving has more bad moves than good and seems to have no long term plan. He's reactionary in every way. It's up to him to change the narrative. The time to play it safe is over. Either push your chips in, or step aside and let someone with a real plan rebuild this team

Fans won't support a rebuild. It's the surest way to have a half empty arena.

You're not getting it. You're proposing going all in. If it doesn't work out and you have no assets to trade, and no assets to draft, how could you properly rebuild? Anyway, this conversation is ridiculous, I'm out.

Did you not pay attention in 2013? Fans were pumped and excited. More so than any other time since 2004 in my eyes.
You're either rebuild or contending. This mediocre, playoff gatekeeper crap just breeds apathy. Just my opinion

Gaudreau
Tkachuk
Lindholm
Dube
Mangiapane
Coleman
Backlund
Hanifin
Andersson
Tanev
Kylington it would seem
Markstrom
Vladar
Coranato

Are you not forgetting that some of those core players and picks or prospects we would have to give up for Eichel?
