It's preseason. Calm down. Relax.
Back in my day the ref made the call unless it was actually high sticked into the net. Why not review penalties? It's the only thing left.

Tying game at home vs LA (they reviewed that he knocked the puck down with a highstick (shoulder height), not that he highsticked it into the goal directly (crossbar):

What the hell is the difference between the two situations? Neutral zone vs offensive?

Flames vs opponent haha

Flames probably didn’t deserve to win, but the refs were complete garbage this game.

Flames were horrible in the first, but then probably at least even in play with the Jets the rest of the way. Refs absolutely gift the Jets multiple PPs, including the one for the game winning goal and then a bit of a BS call back takes the tying goal off the board with 30 seconds left.

There is nothing special about this Jets team but they did dominate the Flames in the first.

Vladar was fantastic and deserved a better fate. Flames need to show up and play an entire game, not just parts of it.

Not obvious at all. It's shoulder height and Tkachuk was bent over. 0 chance anyone can say that was above shoulder level when a player is bent over like that. Call on ice should stand.

Also why they made crossbar the height for a goal.

They got screwed on 3-4 non calls including one right before Zadorov’s penalty plus blatant ones on Dube and Tkachuk.

I’m not sure how clearly it was a high stick, it was around his head but he was crouched.

maybe they could have reviewed a couple of those cross checks in front of the net while they were at it

I don't remember the last time a Flames opponent got screwed out of a tying goal in that fashion. Seems to be the Flames getting their goals shot down fairly consistently.

We're already having apathy drilled into us by this team. I don't think they need help from the league to kill our hope and optimism.

That is exactly what I was thinking of

If one thing stood out to me in this one, it's how uninterested I'm going to be in watching this team without Johnny, should he leave at the end of the year.

Yep, they pointed out that it was non reviewable because the highsticked puck occurred in the neutral zone.

Team needs to make damn sure one of Gaudreau or Eichel is donning the Flaming C beyond this season, or it will be scary.

IIRC it's because high stick wasn't in offensive zone.

Vladar has been really impressive throughout the pre-season.

The NHL created something worse by allowing too many reviews. I get the reason for wanting to be able to reverse obvious blow calls but now we’re at the stage where goals get reversed because someone was a fraction of a mm offside or a puck might’ve been high sticked well before the play that resulted in a goal. Don’t even get me started on the what is and isn’t goalie interference. If you need multiple high def cameras and time slowed down to 1/1000th of a second to look at a play, just let the officials call the game. I still think they should do a football like challenge. Your coaching staff has to ask to challenge a play while the play on the ice is still happening. If the call isn’t egregious enough for one of your coaching staff to notice it and ask for a review, let play continue.

Tuned in for the disallowed goal. Flames only had 18 shots? Yikes.
