It's a terrible take because the Vaccine lowers the risk (duh)

No, someone pointed out myocarditis is 450 million to 1 so they should get the vaccine. I pointed out that the vaccine also can cause myocarditis.
Point was get the vaccine but not because of the chances of getting myocarditis if you get covid. Get the vaccine because of what it's meant for, Covid-19.

I think it’s the fact that you said Myocarditis was a MAJOR risk factor of vaccines.
It is a risk factor. And it is a serious condition.
But the way you worded it insinuates that it is an unusually common side effect of vaccines. Which of course, it is not.

One. That was the risk of getting myocarditis under the age of 20. 450 / 1,000,000.
Two. The vaccine cuts that risk more than in 1/2. (200/1,000,000).
You are wrong and said something reckless. Just own it.

Get vaccinated, no idea why some are stuck on semantics. Get vaccinated because of Covid not to cut risk of myocarditis. Just a silly argument.

Just take out the word Major.
Do you have a Major risk of dying in a car accident this year?
Major implies something that needs to be mitigated.
Words matter.

Because it’s not a major risk factor. And suggesting it is a major risk factor is wrong. Semantics matter because these semantics are the entire basis of the argument for anti-vaxxers.
And getting the vaccine does, in fact, decrease your risk of myocarditis, since it decreases your risk of getting COVID.
If it’s so silly, why push the point? When you’re wrong you’re wrong, take the correction and move on.

The word socialist in the Nazi party’s name is not comparable with how it is used today. Hitler was not a socialist.

My point stands. Anti vaxxers call people leftists and facists in the same sentence, and it shows their intelligence.

Do the Flames have a "major" chance of winning the Stanley Cup this year? Trying to understand how you use words.

Can’t believe this is a conversation in an Oilers thread, but maybe read a book. Mussolini was booted out of the socialist party and adopted nationalism and fascism. Hitler opposed unions, central ownership, and completely rejected socialism by 1926, denying the progression of all socialist projects with the Nazi party.
I bet you think the Progressive Conservatives are the progressive party in Canada, huh? The Rhino party is formed by actual rhinos?

This whole anti-vaxx thing is so bizarre. A long time acquaintance of mine is going to walk away from a long time career rather than get vaccinated. I just don't understand why people are willing to throw everything away because they are too stubborn to get vaccinated.

I think you may need to drill down a little on your research. Over time fascism has been used to describe everything from communists to ultra-right nut jobs. Right now it is certainly used as a pejorative to describe the right. Historians have said "trying to define 'fascism' is like trying to nail jelly to the wall."
To be clear, I'm massively pro-vax, and slightly right of centre. This isn't me trying to go to bat for disassociating the right from the left, but it's not clear that anything fascist is right, and educated, intelligent people like "historians" are the ones saying this.
