I guess crunch bodies and you'll land favor with at least one coach out there

I wish Stone got this salary cause at least he's a good dude, decent on the ice and frankly deserves it. EG is just...haha can't wait to see this disaster play out.

The only positive I can draw from all these moves is that we will not be soft.
That has been the case for a while. So, tough and bad is a slight upgrade to soft and bad, right?

The following scenario is the only thing that makes any sense to me as to why this signing was done:
Gudbrandson's agent to Team A, B and C: Hey, Erik will play for you for $1.5M per year.
Team A, B and C: No!
Gudbrandson's agent to Treliving: I've talked to 3 other teams about Gudbrandson. We even mentioned an AAV of $1.5M
Treliving to Team A, B and C: Did you talk to Gudbrandson about signing for $1.5M?
Team A, B and C: ... well, yeah, but...
Treliving to Agent: Clearly he is a wanted player. There must be something I don't see. I'll gamble. $1.95M!

Without question, the salaries should be reversed.

I think Treliving took all those people saying "you can't win a cup without a top 3 draft pick!!!!" too seriously.

I think these acquisitions are more a reflection of what Darryl has identified as what this team has been lacking.
We’ve often looked good on paper in years past but apart from 1 season, have not lived up to those expectations.
I’m holding out hope that Darryl and management have identified what some of those weaknesses are.
From the outside as fans, we may not fully understand but perhaps there is more that we don’t know about this team. Things that we as fans may not be prevy to such as dressing room issues or a lack of leadership or a will to win and pay the price night in and night out.

Positives:
- Good character guy in the room
- Tough
- Will stick up for teammates
Negatives:
- He isn't very good at all
- That's a high cap hit for someone that is not good
Not a fan of this signing. I am a fan of the Flames getting beefier, but like Treliving has often said himself, that size has to come with skating ability and skill. Gudbranson is not an atrocious skater, but he doesn't have skill. I have been supportive of every signing thus far, but this one is a bit of a head scratcher.
Well, at least the Flames will be by FAR the toughest team in the league this year, AINEC. I can't think of another team that will be able to match-up physically against the Flames. Edmonton games are sure going to be fun to watch now.

I'll be the first to grovel at their feet if this mad series of questionable moves pays off. But chances look low.
They need these tough qualities in their top players more than in their depth lines, and because these guys can't can't exactly be on the ice with the top guns without bringing down the skill level out there and will ve playing separately, they won't really move the needle much.
Top lines will still be soft on the puck and inconsistent as is.

Funny. I wonder if they took the wrong lesson from Montreal going to the finals with 2 decent Dmen and a bunch of "other guys".

He is just doing due diligence
Just throwing out fillers but Gudbranson signed it so quick. So here we are.
Can’t blame the guy for working hard, right?

Man - Florida smacked that 2010 draft year out of the park. At least they got Donskoi and Hyman in the 4th and 5th rounds. Except they never played for Fla.

Maybe if you want to see McDavid and whatever homeless person they have in net pad their stats against a completely inept team. But that seems like a weird thing to call fun if you're a Flames fan.

I actually think it's a downgrade. This roster is gonna take a ton of penalties.

Some Oilers, Canucks and Leafs may get their faces caved in though.
In reality, these signings are only okay if EG and Richardson are playing like 25-30 games apiece. We don't need nor want these guys being regulars.

Don't really know how to feel about the team. It's been a very underwhelming summer.
I'm always hopeful but I have very tempered expectations of this roster. There's a path to the playoffs but I don't have huge expectations for a long run if we make it that far.

Coleman
Vladar
Zadorov
Pitlick
Lewis
Stone
Richardson
Gudbrandson
Looks like a Treliving offseason if I ever saw one.
But one that might follow a season with some limited success, certainly not one that followed a season that fell well below expectations and warranted expectations of a shake up.
Looks like moves you'd make to fill out a decent team, but not make one better, or shake it up in any significant way.

They basically just changed the culture and got tougher. Which is what they said they were going to do.
I guess what did everyone think was going to happen when Sutter showed up? Kylington getting top pairing minutes.
They want Calgary to be a place where you don’t want to play as an opposing team. Just like when Sutter was here last time.

Draft Pick

Brad phoned Jim Benning and got the thumbs up to do this deal. "I only wish I had the cap space to do it myself," said Jim. "I would give him 2.5 million."
