People wanted Sutter.
This is what you get with Sutter.
I just hope it doesn't start to impact the drafting.

Who knows, maybe Sutter can get a little more out of him.

I didn't want Sutter specifically. I just wanted a good coach.
I wanted a legitimate Head Coach, which the bumbling buffoon known as Treliving failed to provide his entire time here.
...Treliving hiring Sutter, and then seemingly doing nothing but signing guys that Darryl knows from a decade ago and guys who are only a factor on the grit chart is literally the most Treliving thing to do.
He's just a !@#$ty GM, so I'd expect that yes over time if we're left with Treliving and Sutter, it will begin impacting our draft.

Sutter might as well hold the GM title at this point if this is how these signings and acquisitions are coming to fruition.
Tre can't compartmentalize his own duties and has to give heavier consideration to guys because they're buds with Darryl. Nevermind the fact that some were trending to be out of the league in the near future.
Don't worry guys, the Flames will give you a nice contract to send you off. It's what we do here.

How many defensemen do we have now on NHL contracts?
8?
Certainly are way bigger compared to last year.

I'm not gonna bother reading this whole thread, but I'll chime in by saying I watched him a bunch in Florida years ago before he got older and slower. He was bad then, and in the few times I've seen him since, he has appeared to get worse. Too slow, not smart/can't read the play, zero offense.
About all he can do is clear the front of the net and punch faces. Stone is a better all-around defenseman, and that's saying something.
I'd much rather see guys like Mackey and Kylington rotate in than watch Gudbranson block their path. I hate, hate, hate this signing. It's #### like this that keeps me from giving Treliving any full-throated support any longer.

At the very least, if the team fails miserably again, they should be able to add some mid/late round draft picks with all these 1 year veteran depth signings.
Kind of sad that the current state of the franchise has reduced me to looking for silver linings like that.
Hopefully all the toughness they've added will lead to the core elevating their games to another level or three.
I dunno, grasping at straws here folks.

To be fair I found the last year after the switch to be more watchable just because of the uptempo pace and effort.
But they certainly will not be very dynamic and will be inept offensively most night as far as on the scoreboard, which we also saw in our Sutter preview.

This off-season has been so bad thus far.
The recent signings have sure made my decision about whether to renew gamecentre this year far easier. I have no interest in paying extra money to watch this team this year. If they happen to be on national broadcasts - fine, otherwise it’s a big fat load of meh.
Love for this all to produce a winning team of course, but woof.

I believe we have 9 NHL one way contracts for defensemen now. There will at least be one player in the AHL getting paid a lot unless there’s a trade coming.
I guess welinski and kylington are reduced salaries in the minors. About half of NHL level.

Guess Stone got re-signed for $750K. So, that contract offsets this one

LOL, he should have been out of the league 3-4 years ago, but somehow he keeps convincing coaches and GMs that he's an NHL player. He must be the most charming guy in the world, because he is abysmal on the ice, which is why he's now on his 6th team in 4 years.
Some poor defensemen can manage to be useful in limited depth roles, but he drags down the team no matter how little or how soft of ice time he gets. One of the worst players to get consistent top 4 ice time I've ever seen.
