Tough day for NFL cuts: Tre Roberson and James Vaughters both cut by Chicago.
Michel, Holley, Begelton and McManis were also cut by their teams.
Still opportunities on the practice squad, but gotta be disappointing for those guys...

I wonder if Huff has been holding out for a few of these players. Vaughters and Begelton would be massive adds.

Yeah but practice rosters are usually used for younger undrafted players. The Bears have kept Vaughters around for a while but he's 28 now.

I would try to give Maier the start on Labor Day, and depending on how Bo's feeling, put him in if Maier struggles. Bo can then start the following week in Edmonton.

Begelton did not make the Packers practice squad, where he spent the entire season last year except for a game on the main club.
Vaughters nor Roberson made the Bears PS either, though they have 3 spots left to fill.
Michel also is floating around as a free agent, after not getting a spot with Philly.
Nate Holly doesnt appear likely to sign on with the Dolphins either, making him available.
lots of talent there IF Huf wants to try and bring them back and they are vaccinated.

I'm assuming the plan is to start Bo in Edmonton. This gives him a chance to work his way back slowly and start taking starter reps next week.

They'll do the Garcia for Flutie swap.
BoLevi comes out and takes the 1st snap and then Maier comes in and throws for 500 yards and 5 TDs.

That was one of the most memorable games in Stampeder history IMO. To see a rookie QB come out of nowhere to absolutely demolish the Eskimos on labor day like that was something we will probably never see again.

Edmonton Elks’ head coach Jaime Elizondo indicated on Wednesday that there is a group of players who will not dress for the Labour Day Classic after contracting COVID-19 during the team’s recent outbreak.
“Everybody’s affected so differently. Some guys don’t have any symptoms, didn’t feel anything. Some guys that come out of this, they may have respiratory issues coming out of it that you don’t uncover until six or seven days down the road, so everybody’s on a different timeline as it depends on this disease,” said Elizondo.
The Elks will not finalize their roster for Monday’s game against Calgary until their third day of practice, which is Saturday. The team plans to be flexible based on how players respond following their return to the field.

I was soooo mad when they pulled Flutie after that first snap.... for like 10 seconds.
