Bennett’s success will be dictated by how much playing time he gets with Huberdeau. If he doesn’t play with Huberdeau his production will dry up quicker than the sands around Death Valley after a rain shower. We saw it with Duclair and the same thing will happen with Bennett. It is imperative that he does everything to maintain his position in the lineup, because he slides down, and he’s back to Calgary levels of production.

Both comments below I agree with. I think what Tre does not do and I will get flamed for it is take a gamble when a top player is available and I do not mean the guys like Neal trade but a major player. We may have to pay 9 million a year but that is what those guys command and he has to figure out how to make that work. How do other teams do it but we never seem to pickup the big fish. Yes it is a gamble but for the right ones it is worth it. It seems most of our top guys are all from drafts which is great but we need more than that here or we will just be a mediocre team forever.

There's just no execution. Because I highly doubt our core guys are that undesirable.

Who are the big fish he has lost out on for money reasons that would have realistically come here?

You mean like the best goalie available as a UFA or something? Or a top defensive defenceman?

This is CP, half the board thinks our core pieces wouldn't fetch a Klondike bar.

I like Treliving but at this point through multiple draft cycles, it’s hard to judge him on anything but results. Which have been poor. It’s as simple as that for me, he hasn’t done a good job.

I’ve said all along, there’s moves I liked, moves I didn’t like, there’s fair criticisms and ones which are lazy and/or unfair, but at the end of the day, it’s a results oriented business. He’s not the best or worst GM right now, nor in Flames history (in fact he’s probably in the upper tier of the latter) but eventually he pays the price for a lack of success no matter who’s to blame.

Tampa wishes they would have got Cammy for Drouin, instead they got...nevermind.
Lol some of the trade proposals over the years have been crazy, sometimes so crazy they get their own catch phrase.

Has anyone said that, let alone half the board?

Right .
Futures are landing Eichel (because that's what Buffalo allegedly wants).
Monahan is essentially a money dump that allows a trade to work.

True, except many are valuing him as an essential part of the transaction, adding the most value to the deal. Basically substituting him for Tkachuk.

Your results would be criticized, but no one would question your work ethic. That’s what I’m saying. I’ve worked with lots of guys who work hard but suck at their job.
It’s not giving Treliving a pass, rather directing the criticism in another direction as opposed to questioning his work ethic.

Me too but usually good organization finds them a new role or move them out
Nothing worse than having people that do not fit.
