Wolf at #4 for me. Ceiling remains very high. Only perception holding him back. Very excited to see him in the AHL on a nightly basis soon.

Del Wilson Trophy (WHL) 2020, 2021
Dave Peterson (USA Hockey) Goalie of the Year 2020
CHL Goaltender of the Year 2020
U.S. Division Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year 2021

He has very consistently played at the highest level for a sustained period of time despite his 6 0 height.

Lots of examples that height limitations can be overcome. Lundqvist and Quick are both 6 1.

"Of the top 25 NHL goalies in save percentage this season (minimum 30 games played) before the season was paused March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus, there were six who measured 6-foot or less: Anton Khudobin of the Dallas Stars (5-11), Pavel Francouz of the Colorado Avalanche (6-foot), Antti Raanta of the Arizona Coyotes (6-foot), Jaroslav Halak of the Boston Bruins (5-11), Juuse Saros of the Nashville Predators (5-11) and Alex Stalock of the Minnesota Wild (6-foot)."

And Poirier has more superstar potential than Kusnetsov. I doubt that will result in him finishing ahead of Kusnetsov though.

100%, but I think a lot of Flames fans are overly cautious because of how many potential "star" goalies couldn't make the transition to the pro game

All the way back to Kidd, Krahn, Irving, Gilles, Parsons and McDonald, all big hopes and never came close

If Wolf can dominant the AHL the way he did in junior, he's arguably our #1 prospect

Vladar's high end potential is still unknown IMO.

He could be Kipper
He could be Drew Shore.

I guess we know Boston's opinion.

As we knew SJ's opinion of Kipper.

It's impossible to know, and comes down to percentages.

I think appeals to authority on traded players are pretty pointless. Every asset that is traded away is also traded for.

As I said in the last round, the fans and media in Boston were really bragging about how good their goaltending situation was, with Swayman and Vladar making Rask expendable. Then we get Darth Vladar for a third. He’s going to be a steal for us now and in the future.

Wolf. And that's no slight to Vladar who I believe was the Flames move of the day easily over Coleman and Zadorov.

There's just something about Wolf. Just turns the negatives and converts it to fuel.

Can't wait to see the next year or so of these two goalies developments.

Sure but where is the appeal to authority? I voted for Vladar but to ignore data points such as how players are viewed by other organizations seems awfully shortsighted. Speaking for myself only, I’m not scouting these players. So isn’t a players trade value some indicator of their potential and a worthwhile input?

Trade value is certainly a useful piece of information, though it is important to consider context as well - players get traded for many reasons, not just because team A is giving up on them.

Referencing other opinions is not an appeal to authority any more than using scouting reports written by others. Seems like useful info to take into account. Boston didn’t give up on Vladar, they had other players they preferred and valued the compensation Flames gave them more than the alternatives. I’d say we have evidence that the player is valued as a third rounder. Doesn’t mean you can’t believe Flames got a steal either.

Mackey isn't even in my top ten. Think he tops out as a depth d-man.

Not sure on his ceiling, but he's certainly not a Justin Kirkland in terms of development pace.
Life isn't fair. So Mackey went one development path and another guy went another. They still merge back at this point of competing for jobs and positions. Phillips at 23 is probably receiving his last contract with the Flames, so will be out of the system at 24. If you aren't playing in the NHL by time you're 25, the potential for you to play in the NHL after that point is pretty miniscule. Definitely shouldn't be a player considered a top prospect, an probably not a prospect of any sort. The player has achieved tweener status IMO. He's an RFA with arbitration rights, which also means this will be his last contract as a Flame, if he doesn't stick and earn a long-term deal before the end of this term. I also did say he was on the same level as Kirkland, just that they are the same age and have aged out of the prospect range. Mackey could be a decent bottom pair defender, but he has to prove that this camp.

I really like Connor Mackey.

He had a really good college career.

He did well in his first year in Stockton putting up some points and playing pretty solid defense on a poor team.

He seemed capable at the NHL level in limited viewings, even putting up some points there too. Can skate the puck out of trouble, makes good passes, defends adequately, and has enough size for the job.

He needs to work on a few things, but he could easily be a 2nd pairing d-man if he puts the work in. All the tools are there. His instincts are good.

I went with Kinnvall. I like Wolf, Vladar and Heinemen, but I think Kinnvall is in a tier alone right now given his ability and likelihood of achieving it.

Yeah... I think Darth Vader, Kinnvall and Heineman are the next 3. Voted Vladar this time, since he is actually going to get an immediate shot it seems. Wolf is down the list until we have a look at him out side the Everett cocoon....

I also voted for Vlader, but I think a lot of posters are sleeping on Kuznetsov. He was the youngest player in the NCAA in his draft year, and has already earned a pro contract in his draft+1 season. I think he is going to be very good, and I have him ahead of Kinnvall and well ahead of the beer-leaguer.

Yeah, between the defensemen - Kinvall, Mackey and Kusnetsov - I like the latter. I think he has the upside, along with size and skating.
