Kuemper doesn’t strike me as worth a first rounder but the Avs pick will be pretty late I’m sure.

Tidy for AZ, Timmins was the 32nd pick in 2017 and that team desperately needs RHD.

Avs kind of had no choice. The goalie market for starters has almost completely settled.

When healthy, he’s been excellent.

The rare Sakic loss. He waited too long to fill their biggest hole, especially if he knew Grubauer was going to walk

The number of draft picks Arizona has accumulated over the past couple weeks is incredible. They're going to be terrible, but it's a good strategy for the next 2-3 years.

They're playing the 4D chess most GMs aren't brave enough to play with two strong drafts with franchise players upcoming.

It is strange to me that a team as poised to compete as the Avs are would #### around at the goaltending position, to where they have to make a desperation move like this.

They can afford to implement this strategy, because there are not enough people paying attention in Phoenix to affect things one way or another.

I like what Arizona is setting up for. They better have their drafting and development departments up to spec, however! Would really suck to go through this and draft/develop terribly.

Ottawa did it. Toronto and Edmonton have also tore down. The Canadian market reality is 100% a thing but I’m not entirely sure why.
A 10th place finish with a season of lacklustre efforts is equally, if not more, tough to endure than a full on rebuild. I think the modern rebuild is also quicker than 15/20 years ago too, with the league becoming drastically younger and more first round picks being NHL ready and ready to play big minutes, coupled with younger free agency.
