3.2 is the lowest he will be getting. That would be a lot of $$ for a Nesterov/Stone replacement.
19:12 / game is a lot of ice time for a 5/6 guy that does not play the PP.
Valimaki does not get a free pass into the top-4.

For some reason my eyes just didn't want to recognize that this thread was real. I guess that tells you what I think about this pickup.

Can someone give me the rundown on Zadorov's game in the last two covid seasons.
I know he's big and physical. What does he excel at? Or is he more of a steady Eddie?

Size and fear. Other than that the blue and red charts say he is a liability everywhere apparently.

Not quite true.
He's good at suppressing shots and chances against defensively.
Problem is he's even better at suppressing shots and changes for offensively.

I understood those charts said he did well at shot suppression, but sucked at any offense...

Kind of like the Giordano math ... 6 years at 34 was scary but he went elite, elite, elite, above average, above average, expansion draft.
Tanev just had an elite season, he can fall a fair bit for years two and three and still be money.
|
Tanev was a top 5 defensive defenceman in this league this past season and that's no exaggeration.
Was like a prime M. E. Vlasic for us, and suddenly it became a great contract.
I hope something similar happens with one of the guys we pick up today.

I think you put Andersson and Hanifin back together; they looked awesome at times. And then play Tanev with Zaradov.
Also, I don't get the concern about having him in the same room as Lucic. They are professionals; Lucic punched him in the head for being a dick once, but I am sure neither player even gives that a second thought now.

I don't mind this player at all but that salary ask seems excessive. It's almost like we're doing Chicago a favor and losing a 3rd round pick. I bet he does well with Sutter and we absolutely needed to do something on the back end.
Sure could use a puck handler back there now.

So far it's a thrown away third round pick.

Zaradov needs to play with someone who can move the puck well and quickly. Because he can't.
I don't think Tanev is that guy.
Gio and him might have been a decent enough pair.
I expect some experimenting by Sutter to see the proper matchups.
I still think we need a PP guy.

Tanev has a very good pass out of the zone, so in that sense he’s a puck mover. He’s underrated transition wise. He just has no real aggressiveness once in the offensive zone.

True, but he'd need to pass it and get off the ice. Him and the Big Z won't cut it together in the offensive zone.

Pair him with someone good at those things - who might not be great at supressing shots then?
Do both defencemen have to drive play, be leading the attack - is this the ideal??
-Also Russian players are tremendously trained!!
